All British Airways American Express 2-4-1 companion vouchers extended by six months

Finally ….

With absolutely zero fanfare – in fact, with no notification of any sort – all British Airways American Express 2-4-1 companion vouchers have been extended by six months.

Here is a screenshot from my account to prove it:

241 extension

Note that my vouchers were issued in October / November 2019 and so should have expired in October / November 2021.  This is off a British Airways Premium Plus American Express so the voucher has a 2-year validity.

Instead, they now expire in April / May 2022.

For clarity, neither of these vouchers has ever been used to book a flight.  They are not vouchers which have been returned to my account following an enforced flight cancellation.

Looking at reader feedback, it seems that all vouchers have been extended.  Even ones which only triggered in the last 48 hours are showing a 30-month validity on Premium Plus cards.  What we won’t know for a few days is whether vouchers triggered AFTER today come through with 24 months or 30 months.

Hopefully you will see the same when you go into your British Airways Executive Club account.

Reissued Lloyd’s credit card upgrade voucher extended to end of September from end of April

    • Barry says:

Did you have to call to get this extended?

    • Alyson Young says:

Out of interest …. I didn’t realise that Lloyd’s CC UG vouchers are still being issued – can you confirm this please? We’ve had a Lloyd’s Avios CC for many years and until recently, hadn’t realised we’d been missing out on the. UG 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ , but was sure, somewhere, I’d read they were no longer available ?
      Thanks, A

      • Will says:

I saw on FT that these were being extended but you had to call 03444933349which answered immediately. only extending March and April expiring vouchers at present, said they were still being issued on the lloyds avios card – I will find out in next 4 weeks as I have just crossed £7k since Jan 1st. (if that is indeed the qualifying date – calendar year apparently)

  • Jimmy says:

Will my gold card be extended for another year? There is no way I will be able to achieve 1500 points now all of my conferences have been cancelled for the year.

  • Anthony says:

OT… emirates Holidays cancelled my late May holiday yesterday and are only offering a voucher to use by Sep-20..(Dubai in summer,,, Scorchio)..I am surprised that there is not more news / advice on this. I think as it is Atol protected.. we should get a full cash refund..

  • Jim Paterson says:

Very surprised this morning. Voucher earned on 6 May 19 extended to 6 Nov 21. Used this for a 2 for 1 Far East trip and the flights were cancelled by BA. Today received an email with two voucher numbers to replace the cancelled voucher. I am assuming that one is the 2 for 1 voucher and the other is a credit for the APD and taxes but no explanation. I now have to use the replacement voucher within 12 months of the date of the first flight on my original booking, by 12 April 21. This lessens the validity of the origin voucher. What can I do?

  • Jim Paterson says:

Sorry, I meant to mention that I have not received a refund of Avios to my account for the original flights.

  • Adam Fernie says:

mine was due to expire on Friday this week and was extended automatically to September. Still probably won’t use it by then but nice of them to give us a bit of time.

  • Abbas says:

Do we have any clarification or updates regarding BA On Business points? Thousands of points that were due to expire at end of 2019, were used to buy flights in 2020 which are now cancelled due to Covid-19. Those points have now obviously expired – Is there any talk of extending the hard expiry date for On Business points due to current situation?

    • Rob says:

No, not heard anything. OB was due for a massive shake-up anyway.

      • Abbas says:

Just checked with the OB team, they will refund the points for flights cancelled and add them to the points expiring end-2020. Seems reasonable and fair instead of just losing the points outright due to their original end-2019 expiry date. Perhaps worth flagging to others.

  • Ian says:

Hi, We have flights booked using a 2-4-1. I do not know when that voucher was due to end. Is there a way to find this out before cancelling or will I only know the new expiry date, once I cancel?
