What is e-Rewards?

If you have never heard of e-Rewards, it is an online market research company that offers incentives in return for taking surveys.  If you keep your profile updated, you will only be sent surveys about topics that interest you and suit your lifestyle.

After your general ‘600 Avios for completing one survey’ sign up bonus, you earn Opinion Points for each future survey you complete.  When you reach certain point levels, you can redeem your Opinion Points for more Avios.

How do you join e-Rewards?

Joining e-Rewards is very straightforward, and exclusively available to all British Airways Executive Club members.

Simply visit the British Airways e-Rewards site here and fill out your details. You must be a UK resident, over the age of 16 years and have a BA Executive Club account to join.

Once you’ve created your account you can update it with more details about your lifestyle in order to receive personalised surveys which match your interests.

If you are worried about your data, e-Rewards privacy Policy states that they

‘only share your responses with the survey sponsor and you’ll have complete control over what information you share from your account. […] Any information you provide will be strictly used for research purposes only and is kept completely anonymous.‘

How to fill out surveys

You will receive emails with links to surveys you qualify for, based on your interests.  You can also log into your account and browse available surveys.  The more information e-Rewards has about you, the more surveys you will be able to take.

Some surveys have a small pre-qualification section, where the first few questions are used to check more closely whether you are the right sort of person that the survey sponsor is looking for.  You may be told after a few minutes that you do not qualify.  If this happens, you might want to look at your profile and see if you can add some information to help e-Rewards target you more closely.

For longer surveys, where the pre-qualification stage takes a little longer, you will receive a small amount of points if you do not qualify to take the full survey.

Surveys usually take around 15 minutes, and you will see an estimate of how long a survey takes before you start filling it out.  It can work well if you have ‘dead time’ whilst commuting, or if you want to multi-task whilst watching TV!

How to earn Avios with e-Rewards

You will receive 600 Avios after completing your first survey.  After that you will be earning ‘Opinion Points’ which can be redeemed for Avios.  The minimum transfer is 1,200 Opinion Points for 250 Avios, although the transfer rate improves if you convert in larger quantities.

It can take up to 35 days for your redeemed Avios to appear in your British Airways Executive Club account.

Conclusion

600 Avios for completing one e-Rewards survey is a decent reward for signing up and giving their surveys a go.

You may or may not decide that, long term, the Avios rewards are worth your time.  e-Rewards does have a lot of loyal members and, if you find yourself with chunks of dead time, such as sitting on the train in the morning, feeding the baby at night or during your lunch break, it might work for you too.

    A couple of years ago I was getting 30k avios a year from doing surveys. I don’t do as many as I used to. I reckon the earnings rate through e-rewards is about 300 to 350 Avios per hour. I have time on my hands, some of the surveys are really interesting, and some are really easy to answer. I pick up a lot of points through not qualifying – 25 points for a couple of minutes of mindless form filling while watching TV. You occasionally get new products to sample.

    The payment for surveys you don’t qualify for makes e-rewards worthwhile in my opinion. I’ve totally given up on Rewards for Thoughts, who give you nothing for a screen out and can offer a 25 minute survey for 50 avios (but is the same company).

    I was invited to join e-rewards years ago through Hilton, and it has been useful for keeping points alive with American Airlines and Hilton. I mainly redeem through Iberia, where the conversion rate is 20% higher than BA. I can also redeem with Etihad, EuroWings, United, and Virgin.

    I also do a monthly online survey with Tesco for 25 CCP/60 Avios. Details on the bottom of every Tesco receipt.

      Does the Tesco receipt survey for 25 pts pay out? I done these years ago but found they didn’t credit points most of the time.

      I would echo Nick’s comments re Rewards For Thoughts but I still do the e Rewards surveys for Iberia Avios with the better earning rate and have claimed 1500 Avios on 09/02 , 3000 on 01/06 , 750 on 03/07 and have enough points now for another 750 Avios as they say “Every little helps ! “

    Wouldn’t touch eRewards with a bargepole now – frequent emails offering studies with decent number of points. Fill out questions then asked more qns, then more qns only to be told screened out. Seems way more scammy than it used to be before and just a data mining exercise.

      I get an average 8k avios a month. You just need to know how to answer the questions and tailor your demographics to get accepted & complete successfully surveys.

        I’ve plodded on spending e-rewards for Hilton over the years. The best redemption rate is 8000 e-rewards for 7000 hiltons. e-rewards revamped their website earlier this year, making it impossible to redeem twice for Hilton in any 60-day period, so I have eased off a bit to avoid accumulating more than I can redeem. Indeed the reward rate has never adjusted to Hilton Honors inflation: one top redemption used to equal one Hampton night; now that needs three top redemptions, so at least 6 months. A more interesting survey experience with a quicker return is prolific.co which pays cash in £5 lots via Paypal. A Hampton night in one-third of the time, approximately.

        I’ve also been recently involved in home testing of free products. Cat food, cream cheese, soft drinks & bagels. All freebies delivered by courier and up to 2k avios as a reward.

    I am wondering whether or not to go for this again: there are one or two points that I think worth sharing with others.

    1) **Ignore** the e-mails they send out. By the time you get them, the “opportunity” will have expired. If you want to do some surveys, log-in to your account and your home page will show if there are any active surveys. Be prepared for this info to be either out-of-date or not yet valid. Just keep clicking on the “Survey” link at the top of the screen and eventually it will usually start working for you. If not, try the next day.

    2) Accept that returns will be better on some days rather than others. One day in the last few days I got 725 points, in the middle of June 825 points in one sitting. Average for me is 300-400 points.

    3) The offers from hotel groups are far better than the one from BA, because you get a wide range of earning opportunities. In particular, Iberia is good, because at the lower conversion levels of 2000 points you get 750 avios in IB cf. 500 from BA.

    4) The e-Rewards Hilton site allows you to redeem on several airlines, plus Amzazon, M+S, Sainsbury’s, Lakeland and TK Max and a few other things. Iberia is always the best value airline, though.

    5) The Accor site is much the same, but being able to convert to Accor does give you a fixed cash figure to compare with other options: 6000 points = 1000 All = €20,– [Iberia is still better value, provided that you think you will get 1p per Avio.]

    6) The Ts+Cs state only one a/c per person, and they did make me close one a/c when I had ones from Hilton, BA and IHG. Currently I have just Hilton and Accor; I obviously use different e-mail addresses for the two memberships – I try to use different Top Level Domains for each currently one .uk and one.coop, {I have fr, .be and .de to choose from too.]
    I also use a different browser for each a/c and sometimes, if it lets me work, a different IP address.

    Finally, there has been (at least in my experience) a problem with transfers to Hilton over the last 9 months. I have had to wait the full six weeks and then complain. Last time that worked to my advantage because I got the Hilton points twice. Other transfers – Accor, IB, VS, UA, all take around 72 hours max.

      If you ignore the emails they send out, your potentially missing out big time. 50% of my active surveys come from clicking on an email invitation.
