How to earn Avios points with NH Hotels and nhow

This article looks at how to earn Avios points from stays at NH Hotels and nhow.

It is now over a decade since Avios was launched and the British Airways and Iberia loyalty schemes given the same ‘currency’.

Whilst efforts have been made to unify the different partners who work with each programme, it has been a slow process.  It was only fairly recently that Iberia started working exclusively with Avis as its car hire partner, for example.

Earn Avios with NH Hotels

One area where there is still inconsistency is with hotel partners.

The list is shrinking to be fair.  Melia is now a British Airways partner, whilst Iberostar pulled out of Iberia Plus.

This leaves NH Hotels and local chain Paradores as the only groups which work with Iberia Plus but not British Airways Executive Club.

Full details of all Iberia hotel partners can be found here. Weirdly it still lists Best Western as a partner but this ended in May 2023.

Earn Avios points with NH Hotels

Earning Avios with NH Hotels

NH Hotels is one of those niche European hotel chains that is rarely seen in the UK but crops up quite frequently on the continent.

As well as the main NH Hotels brand, the group also includes NH Collection, Tivoli and the funky nhow chain which the only part of the group which you can find in London.

The only NH property we have ever reviewed is NH Collection Antwerp Centre (click here for the review) which impressed Rhys in January.

The standard earning rate with NH Hotels and nhow is shown here at iberia.com.  You earn between 200 and 450 Avios per night depending on the quality of the hotel.

Note that, until 31st October 2023, there is a double Avios offer running. You could earn up to 900 Avios per night.

To earn Avios at NH Hotels, you need to open an Iberia Plus account at iberia.com and give that number to the hotel.  British Airways Executive Club numbers are not accepted

Once the Avios arrive in your Iberia Plus account, you can transfer them to British Airways using the ‘Combine My Avios’ feature online.  Note that Iberia accounts must be 90 days old before you can use ‘Combine My Avios’. This HfP article explains in detail how ‘Combine My Avios’ works and how to work around any IT bugs.

I followed this advice religiously. NH seem to already have my Iberia number linked to my profile. Never got a single avios and their customer service department couldn’t have been more unhelpful.

My recent stay at NH City Prague shows corporate matters more than anything. Poor customer service and engagement

We had a nice overnight at NH Brussels Airport this February. Shuttle transfer included for around £70

I stayed at a Tivoli in May and they had no idea what I was on about at reception when trying to give my Iberia number. Fortunately the General Manager sorted it for me. As for GHA Discovery nothing posted to there at all after the stay, didn’t even recognise the nights.

  • Steve says:

Iberia plus account must be over 90 days old plus must have a qualifying flight on it to get avios transferred into it.

I stayed in NH Schiphol a while ago. Just before NH joined the D$ programme (which I only found out about after it had happened).

They were trying do a hard sell to get me to sign up the the me loyalty programme. Gave me a free upgrade to an executive room for signing up. Nice comfy bed, spacious room. And the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had for an semi-premium airport hotel.

In the past year , I’ve stayed 6 nights in NH hotels. However, neither the NH Dusseldorf or NH Hamburg Altoona knew anything about earning Avios for my stay when I handed across my Iberia Plus number. I did not get credited any Avios for my stays.
