2,000 lucky holders of The Platinum Card from American Express are about to get themselves a very generous offer indeed – £400 of free Marriott International hotel stays.

This new offer has just launched. Only 2,000 people are able to register.

If you have The Platinum Card, I STRONGLY recommend that you look at your online offers page IMMEDIATELY. If you see this offer, click ‘save to card’. It will disappear as soon as 2,000 people have saved it.

American Express Amex Platinum card £400 free Marriott stays

I do NOT have this offer. It is possible that this is one for non-Londoners.

Do I really get £400 of free stays?

Yes. Here are the terms:

  • Spend £400 and get £400 cashback
  • You must stay by 23rd November
  • Valid at participating hotels

What hotels are ‘participating’?

Not many, unfortunately. However, they are all very high end and you’re in for a treat with your free £400.

£400 of free Marriott hotel stays

In the UK, your options are:

I live in London. This is pointless for me.

No it isn’t. Assuming that you simply don’t just fancy a change of scene, how about this?

Book the cheapest room you can find, and then spend the difference up to £400 in the hotel restaurant and bar. Go home at night if you must, then pop back to check out the next day.

Think of all the Marriott Bonvoy points you’ll earn as well.

There are numerous non-UK options too although only two German hotels are outside the UK quarantine rules.

If you are targetted for this offer, you are in for a great short break. Enjoy.

PS. On Tuesday, I hope to run another article showing the special benefits that you will get if you book via our hotel booking partner Emyr Thomas.

  • r* says:

You have to spend over 400, right? As in its not a refund of anything up to 400?

  • csp says:

I knew it was coming last night, been logging in since 6am to see if it would show up in my account, nope.

  • Adil says:

Hi, could someone clarify this? Offer states ‘only valid on checkout spend’, does that mean pay at property rates only or are advanced payment bookings acceptable too?

    • Rob says:

In reality, because the hotel processes pay in advance payments, it is VERY likely it works. However there is a risk. Another risk is that the hotel decides not to bother charging you in advance (often happens), if you’re planning to book for later than 23rd November.

      • Adil says:

Thanks Rob, I’m planning to stay by the 23rd but the pre-pay rates are cheaper so wondering if it’s worth the risk. Anyone booked pre-pay and triggered the offer?

  • Robert says:

Brilliant offer! Thanks for this Rob.

  • The Streets says:

Once again i am guessing no sign of this offer on the Platinum Business Card?

  • meta says:

Langley will cost you £400+ for the only weekend in November you can use the offer.

    • Rob says:

Yes, I just saw that. Back to the drawing board!

In that case, I think I will host my birthday dinner (max 6 people obviously) in one of the hotels on the list and book a cheap room which I can charge it to.

    • Harry T says:

I would still book the Langley on points, even with this offer (if I had it). Mind you, I can’t find a weekend available for points before New Year.

      • Anna says:

Harry – there’s been some chat about this recently. They have pulled all reward nights for the next few months and are assertively chasing anyone with a booking for any extra points they might owe under the new Bonvoy pricing.

        • Rob says:

Prices are also up aggressively (although all luxury UK hotels have whacked up their pricing substantially – see Four Seasons Hampshire). Not sure if they need to run on lower occupancy, potentially due to a squeeze on eating space for dinner ad breakfast due to distancing rules.

          • Harry T says:

It’s also interesting that the Langley is not participating in the Healthcare Heroes rate but several very expensive central London hotels are.

@Anna I did see that – personally think they should just honour previous bookings and allow them to change for free. That’s what other hotels are doing.

      • meta says:

Interesting. Then you could do £400 worth of spa/dining. I am actively thinking about switching to points booking. Hm hm.

  • GaryM says:

Nothing for me. I guess having spent well over $20,000 in Marriott properties in 2019 (and becoming Ambassador status), they feel I’m not worth encouraging.

  • Andrew says:

Bulgari is over £600 room only!
