Germany and Sweden added to the quarantine list, no countries removed

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

From 4am on Saturday 7th November, anyone returning to England from Germany or Sweden will have to self isolate for fourteen days.

(Note that the cut-off has gone back to 4am Saturday, after being moved to 4am on Sunday for a period.)

No countries have been removed from the quarantine list.

Travel corridors update

The Government has not yet amended the list of countries exempt from the Foreign Office ‘do not travel’ list (click here, but the standalone list has been temporarily removed for the November lockdown). This is usually the trigger for being able to abandon your holiday plans and make a successful travel insurance claim. We expect this to be updated shortly.

The official ‘travel corridor’ list is on this page of the Government website.

    who’s left? Greece?

  • Sandgrounder says:

Oh well, I feel a bit better now about the lockdown- I would have needed to cancel my trip to Sweden anyway.

  • Alba says:

For those interested in The Canaries, the implementation of the law requiring a test will be delayed until atleast the 23rd of November.

You will also be able to get a test on arrival for ~€30 rather than spending ~£150 on a test in the UK, if you’re willing to quarantine at your accommodation until you get the results.

    • Harry T says:

Thank you, that’s good to hear. Do you have a link for further information? We are currently in the Canaries but I wouldn’t mind returning over Christmas if the tests are cheap.

    • Doreen says:

Alba, can you give us a link for that please. Have just done a search of usual sources & can’t find a reference to any change regarding starting date ?

    • Eshaq Choudhury says:

I can’t see this info anywhere. Can you confirm please?

      That’s good. news.
Although Easyjet have cancelled my flight to lanzarote on 21st from Edi -( apparently due to the England travel restrictions ???) I haven’t cancelled my hotel or return Ryanair flight yet.
If the covid test was in place for my arrival , I wouldn’t be going

    • Jan M says:

I would love a link. Flying there on the 18th (from Germany) and had already booked a Covid test for beforehand. Might fly back to the UK from there and call my time in Tenerife quarantine. 🙂

  • Richard M says:

So I think that just leaves Gibraltar as the only place with no restrictions in either direction…..

    • Richard M says:

      Oh yes and mainland Greece

      • Nick says:

But mainland Greece is effectively closed once you get there. From this weekend you’ll need special permission (by SMS) to leave your place of residence.

    • Travel Strong says:

and yet, easyjet just cancelled a bunch of flights to Gibraltar. Got the cancellation notification for xmas flights this afternoon.

  • Harrier25 says:

Someone has a sense of humour. I think I may feel safer in Germany and/or Sweden than anywhere in the UK at the current time.

  • stevenhp1987 says:

Currently in Sweden. Life feels normal here, except museum closures in Stockholm.

Not fussed about self isolating on our return. Expected it but we’re glad to finally get out sightseeing, stay in a decent hotel and eat great food!
