New Hilton LXR hotel to open in the Seychelles

A brand new fourth Hilton property will open in the Seychelles. This is a relatively late signing as the hotel is due to open in March 2021, which suggests that it is already close to completion.

The Mango House Seychelles is a new-build property on the southern coast of the main island of Mahé, along Anse aux Poules Bleues.

Hilton already has three properties in the Seychelles (including a DoubleTree) but Mango House will be its most luxurious offering on the archipelago.

The resort will join Hilton’s LXR brand, of which there are just four currently open. (The Baltimore Mayfair re-opened as an LXR property in 2019 after a big refurbishment.) Four more, including Mango House, are due to open next year.

LXR is a ‘collection’ brand comparable to Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It lets individual boutique hotels join the Hilton Honors network without having to implement any fixed brand standards.

The Mango House Seychelles will feature just 41 guest rooms including nine suites. It will offer three different pools and five different cafes, bars and restaurants.

Hilton Honors has yet to decide what category of hotel this is so we don’t yet know how many points per night it will be. It may be on par with the Waldorf Astoria Maldives which goes for 120,000 points per night but it is more likely to be at ‘standard’ luxury level of 95,000 or 80,000 points. Status members receive ‘5 for 4’ which effectively knocks 20% off this price for a five night stay.

    Surely, if you want to cancel an RFS return flight which is still operating, since you would lose all the cash. So, the voucher is the way to go? Or am I missing something?

      the bit where the article said “At the moment, the form is only available for cancelled flights.”

      So cancelling tickets for flights that are still running is irrelevant to Rob’s comment.

        Will BA be making customers aware that if BA cancels a flight on their booking the customer doesn’t just have the right to a refund but customer can choose to book to another date convenient to him instead? which can;t be restricted to peak/offpeak, within 14 days etc., despite what BA has sometimes offered.

        So far as I am aware BA is required by EU261, which gives the passenger the right to choose a new date (=”reroute”) if BA cancels, to make the passenger aware of their rights under EU261 which include the right to choose to reroute or to take a refund, and a few other things.

        I do hope BA will also be able to explain to the regulator at some point quite why it was acceptable to have previously disabled their website from the passenger being able to choose refunds, twice (which the website was always able to readily offer previously), as well.

    This refund link is very timely, as I’d put aside time today to call BA for a refund for my cancelled flight to FRA on 3rd Dec. Manage My Booking isn’t offering this link for a refund. It still says I can claim a voucher online, or change my dates for free, or call them for my ‘refund options’. Does anyone know what happens if you don’t do anything regarding an upcoming cancelled flight, and the date of departure passes? Is it an automatic refund, or an automatic voucher, or an automatic nothing until you do something?

      I haven’t actually managed to pay… but it lets me get all the way to the payment page and still provides all the normal options so there would be nothing stopping you. Unless this is intentional, they’re absolute idiots setting it up this way.

    I have 2 Avios tickets booked to Brazil for Xmas, using a companion voucher. If these end up getting cancelled (really quite likely), I was under the impression my companion voucher would be returned to me with the original expiration date – which from memory is about March 2021. This would be bad news for me as it’s unlikely I’d be able to use it by then.

    Is there a way to cancel and get the companion voucher extended?

      Yes. Take the Future Travel Voucher and not a refund. The Future Travel Voucher is valid for travel completed by 30/4/22. You are committed to leaving your taxes money and Avios tied up in the FTV however.

        (But interested how it works with a FTV – do they give me a defined-by-a-formula monetary value to cover the two business class tickets return tickets + taxes?)
