This is the second of our two Black Friday round up articles today.

If you are reading this by email and the formatting looks a mess, apologies. You will need to pop over to the website.

You can see Black Friday offers that started last week in this article.

The British Airways ‘20% off all flights’ deal is covered in this article.

The Virgin Atlantic cash sale is covered here. The ‘50% off all redemption flights’ deal is covered here.

Buy Star Alliance Gold from TAP

TAP Portugal is offering a unique deal. You can buy 132,000 Miles&Go miles AND get six months of Star Alliance Gold status for €718.

We don’t know enough about Miles&Go to say whether 132,000 miles is worth €718 or not, although it is hard to see how it could be a bad deal. You can redeem across all 26 Star Alliance airlines. Just be aware that the miles are drip-fed into your account over 12 months, however.

You really need to do your own research on this one, especially as just six months of Star Gold won’t be hugely useful in the current environment. The offer ends on 30th November.

TAP Miles&Go

Apple’s AirPods Pro are also noise cancelling and are down to £199.

If you like reading, you can get a Kindle for £49 (was £69) or the top-of-the-line Kindle Oasis for £169 (was £229).

You can also get 3 months free Amazon Music Unlimited and 2 months free Kindle Unlimited. (Terms apply, not valid to those who have previously had free trials.)

And, if you’re stocking up for Christmas, the Laphroaig Quarter Cask single malt is available for £25, down from £41!

The best Amazon deal is the Kindle for Kids – ad free, double storage, and comes with a snazzy (removable) cover, £10 more than the basic model.

TAP deals sadly are garbage. Capetown only booking Nov 2021, and at silly prices. Was excited as I have a 1.5k voucher to spend.

    • Harry T says:

Regarding the kid’s kindle – can you read it in the dark? I’ve been stealing my gf’s old paper white and I like being able to read in bed with the lamp off until I fall asleep.

      • mr_jetlag says:

yep new gen kindles all with paperwhite tech

        • Harry T says:

Thank you, that’s very helpful! God knows why the paper white kindle is over £100 then!

I saw a refurbed kindle for £40 but foolishly didn’t buy. Now out of stock.

          • mr_jetlag says:

Apparently the Paperwhite screen is 300dpi vs 167 for the normal Kindle / K4K… no I don’t see the difference either.

Another nice thing for the Kids’ edition is the 2y “worry free” warranty as I am constantly dropping the thing at bedtime… I DO share it with my eldest but he takes better care of it than me!

  • Matt says:

Marriott hotels included are a very small list, only one in Spain for example.
Very poor “special” and only till Jan 10!

    • Oli says:

I had had the same issue when looking at UAE yesterday. Appears these are the rules:
Europe & Africa: The sale is valid Thursday to Sunday (Friday and/or Saturday night may be required), while some hotels may have availability 7 days a week.
Middle East: The sale is valid Wednesday to Saturday (Thursday and/or Friday night may be required), while some hotels may have availability 7 days a week.

  • TomH says:

The Laphroig is showing at £38 when I click through, anyone else getting the right price?

  • Martin says:

The whisky is already back up to £38. Damn algorithms!

  • FlightDoctor says:

Could the Marriott offer be combined with the AMEX £400 credit offer in London?

    • memesweeper says:

Pay at checkout definitely triggers the Amex offer. I’ve no idea if the pre-pay Marriott rates will, would be odd if they didn’t.

Note these are non-refundable, at least at my regular London digs. Also the refundable rates have shot up overnight. Perhaps a 5% saving compared to previous best rates, at the cost of a loss of flexibility. I’m not biting.

      • TGLoyalty says:

They are fully refundable up to a day before checkin.

      • Simon says:

I can’t seem to find the offer to work with the amex offer 🙁

        • TGLoyalty says:

Not sure what you mean? It’s a prepaid rate which should shows 40% off and refundable until the day before check in

The only reason the AMEX hotel offers mention check out is that your card must be charged BEFORE the deal ends. Which doesn’t always happen with prepaid rates as hotels do you a favour and don’t make the charge until a few days before the stay.

That’s easy to get around you just phone the hotel and ask them to charge your card.

FYI Hilton in the USA is different as prepaid rates are charged centrally rather than at the hotel so if you ever have a USA offer that wont work.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Yes as they’ll charge you card the stay can be up until Jan 10 too.

  • Nick_C says:

The Bose headphones are £205 at John Lewis. And lots of people have JL gift cards.

    • memesweeper says:

      thanks @nick_C — good spot

    • MKB says:

Thanks. Was in time to cancel with Amazon and re-order from John Lewis. £4 saved, and I’m giving my money to JL not Mr Bezos. Win win.

Lesson: always read comments before taking action!

    • The Savage Squirrel says:

Also, the (better) Sony WH-1000XM3s are sub £200 if you look around.

  • Sandgrounder says:

Really useful email from Marriott, suggesting a short break before 10 Jan in Cardiff, Bristol, Edinburgh or Glasgow. That’s not going to work for me…

  • ChrisW says:

Some good deals in there I just have no real interest in booking travel right now : (
