Accor is running an interesting offer for its UK hotels. If you buy a gift voucher, you will receive a slug of bonus Accor Live Limitless points.

These can be used for a cash discount on a future stay (1 point = 2 Eurocents, albeit you need 2,000 points to convert) or sent to Avios in Iberia Plus at the rate of 1:1.

Earn bonus points buying Accor gift vouchers

Here are the offers, which are on the website here:

  • Get 500 points (worth €10) with a £100 gift card
  • Get 1,500 points (worth €30) with a £250 gift card

The website contains a list of participating hotels but in reality it seems to be (virtually?) all of the UK ones.

Gift cards are valid for 12 months. Note that they CANNOT be used to book ‘pay in advance’ rates, so you will be locked into booking more expensive ‘pay at check-out’ rooms.

That said, if you regularly book UK Accor hotels with ‘pay on departure’ rates then you should jump in.

You can find out more on the Accor website here.

Circa 10% discount for a gift card that locks you into rates that are probably more than 10% above the cheapest available. Hope their IT’s capable of handling the stampede…

I have just renewed my lapsed Accor Gold status I bought for £65 through the Ibis Business card. I’ve had some very decent benefits due to it both in UK and France. If the gift vouchers are tired in to a specific rate though, I agree there may be little point in buying them.

The German version (the french seems not to be published yet) has an expiry date of 36 months, which beginns with the year following of the year during which the card / voucher was bought.

The German version has also a different approach in regard to the rate booked:
“Sie können Ihren Geschenkgutschein nicht zum Buchungszeitpunkt zur Zahlung einlösen, sondern erst beim Check-out im Hotel. Gegebenenfalls vorab bezahlte Buchungen werden dann vor Ort im Hotel zurückerstattet und zur Zahlung wird dann Ihr Gutschein eingesetzt.”
This means, you can use for advanced purchase rate and the hotel will reimburse you and charge the gift card instead. Well – I doubt it will be that easy and I know Accor as well.

But I might give it a try.

On the other hand, I was on the last couple of month charged during check in – even on advanced purchase rate in ibis and a couple of other brands.

So I might not be that quick with putting in the basket of just another rubbish offer of Accor

Just done 2 Club opinion surveys which has extended my points by 4 months! Yippee as Aegean points would have arrived on day they were due to expire. Otherwise was going to have to have a cocktail in the American bar of the Savoy.
