For anyone keen to avoid the M8, Loganair has launched a new flight between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The 50 mile trip takes just 15 minutes.
This is not a permanent change. Struggling to fill direct flights, Loganair is picking up passengers in both cities before flying on to Stornoway or elsewhere. You can, however, buy tickets purely for the Edinburgh to Glasgow leg.
A similar flight is available between Inverness and Aberdeen, on the way to Kirkwall. This is a trip of around 85 miles.
Glasgow to Edinburgh is operated a 50-seat Embraer ERJ145, like the one pictured above.
