The long awaited ‘Luton Airport Express’ rail service is getting closer. East Midlands Railway has confirmed that a new half hourly non-stop service between London St Pancras and Luton Airport Parkway will launch in May.

The half hourly service will run between 6am and 10pm daily, with additional late night and early morning services.

There will also be timetable changes in the other direction, giving people who live north of Luton their own regular service to the airport.

There is still no date for the launch of Luton’s Direct Air-Rail Transit system. This is a new £225m light rail system which will run between the station and the airport, replacing the current bus service. A 2021 launch is still on the cards.
