Get a 50% bonus when you buy Virgin Points

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Virgin Flying Club is running a short ‘flash sale’ when you buy points.

The maximum bonus is 50%.  It is VERY rare for Virgin Atlantic to run a bonus this big – until February 2020, it had never run a 50% bonus as far as I could tell.

Get a 50% bonus buying Virgin Points

The closing date for the bonus is 30th April.  The bonus is staggered:

  • 15% bonus when you buy 5,000 – 24,000 points
  • 30% bonus when you buy 25,000 – 69,000 points
  • 40% bonus when you buy 70,000 – 99,000 points
  • 50% bonus when you buy 100,000 – 150,000 points

At the top end, 150,000 Virgin Points, which comes to 225,000 points with the bonus, will cost you £2,250.  This works out at exactly 1p each.

As usual with these deals, it is difficult to recommend buying points unless you plan to make an immediate redemption.  1p per point is OK but I would want to know for certain that I would be using them in a profitable way.

Remember that, you receive 15,000 Virgin Points with the £160 Virgin Atlantic Reward+ credit card.  This is a better deal than buying 15,000 points for £195.  Our full review of the Virgin Atlantic Reward+ card is here.

If you have a small business, I’d recommend getting American Express Business Platinum with its 100,000 Virgin Points bonus (assuming you convert the Amex points) rather than spending £1,080 on 100,000 points.
