Key worker? Get a 25% discount at Hilton hotels

Hilton has extended its ‘Frontline Thanks’ offer until the end of 2021.

‘Frontline Thanks’ allows workers in various sectors to get a 25% discount on Hilton bookings. The discount is good for hotels globally, unlike the old UK ‘Public Sector’ discount which was only valid here.

It has to be said that the list of ‘key workers’ who quality is very long and probably covers half the population …..

You can book here.

Which groups are eligible for Hilton’s ‘Frontline Thanks’?

These are the groups that qualify for booking ‘Frontline Thanks’:

“Frontline Thanks rate is valid only for medical professionals with medical identification, for guests with valid military ID including active duty, reserve, and retired service members and their spouses and families and in EMEA, for professionals within Health and Social care, Education and Childcare, Key Public Services, Local and National Government, Military, Food and other necessary goods, Public safety and National security, Transport, Utilities, Communication and Financial Services. You must be a Hilton Honors member to book this rate.”

What this means is that you can only use this rate outside Europe, the Middle East and Africa if you work in the health sector or the military. For hotels in EMEA, a far broader range of professions are accepted.

How much do I save?

The discount is fixed at 25% off Best Flexible Rate.

If a hotel has Advanced Purchase rooms for sale at a discount to Best Flexible Rate, your saving will be lower but should still beat any other rate on hilton.com.

You must be a member of Hilton Honors to book this rate.

Are there any other benefits?

These rates also qualify for early check-in and late check-out ‘if possible’. To be fair, Hilton does not guarantee late check-out to elite members either.

What are the key dates?

You need to book by 30th June.

You need to stay by 31st December.

How do I book?

There is a special ‘Frontline Thanks’ website which you need to use. You can find it here.

PS. Don’t forget to register (click) for Hilton’s new ‘More Points More Nights’ promotion. Running from yesterday until 6th September, it offers 2x or 3x base points per stay. Read more about Hilton’s last bonus points offer in this HfP article.

  • Harry T says:

This is definitely going to degenerate into a thread about how everyone who thinks their work is important is a key worker.

But, in related news, the Marriott and Hyatt healthcare rates are considerably more generous.

    • Bill says:

Can you remind me the Marriott healthcare rate code please

    • Doug M says:

Possibly, I’ve often wondered why commercial organisations decide to value certain roles/jobs and make discounts available, seems an odd thing to me.

      • Russ says:

It sounds noble but it’s just a marketing wrap designed to target large groups of people. If 10 million Martians landed tomorrow there would be a 30% ‘see earth’ rate by the end of the day. Only valid on the second stay of course…..

    • David says:

What ID do you need on check in at a Marriott ? Will an NHS badge do ?

  • TripRep says:

    quality should be qualify?

  • IanM says:

Checked for LOndon trip in June, largely no difference to Dream Away rate

  • Ian says:

Going to be impossible to prove with ID as many will have their own company id yet they will work in the qualifying sector.

Can’t see any check in person bothering to ask.

Maybe USA, but not in the UK.

    • Memesweeper says:

In my experience utility employers’ ID intentionally has none of the employers details showing. Unless you are paid to knock on doors to read meters I think that’s likely very common.

      • Genghis says:

Photo ID should only contain a photo – no company, no name. With LinkedIn it’s so easy to do a quick name search to then have an active pass for that company’s office.

  • AnotherUser says:

Hilton Gateshead site says this rate is “Medical and military only.” Have they got that wrong? Saving is only around a fiver a night anyway…

    • geoff says:

Same here. This looked good initially compared to some existing bookings, until I realised that the HH rate is not much more – so it seems there is Hilton wide ‘sale’ of sorts. Given the difficulty of proving UK veteran status (there is still no retired ID card yet) I wonder if it is worth it. Presumably, if you couldn’t prove your status at check in you would revert to the full flex rate?
However, I have just saved quite a bit by cancelling and rebooking several upcoming stays albeit at the HH rate.
I am also a bit wary of the US-centric nature of Hilton, and the lack of detail on what qualifies as military or veteran, as we have had some bad experiences (as well as good ones) with mil discount in the US, being US-military only.

  • Aron says:

Will this be like the Public Sector discount rates which are near impossible to find most of the time.

  • John says:

The NHS is The Envy of the World

    • IanM says:

It ought to be if what it costs is anything to go by

  • Trev says:

Well looking at a night in Bournemouth in June the rates are identical to my Honors rate. I used the dedicated site and checked against my Honors app. Exactly the same. Must be me…..
