With the UAE now on the Amber travel list, allowing all fully vaccinated UK residents to travel, Emirates has announced the resumption of flights from Glasgow Airport.

From 11th August until the end of the Summer timetable on 30th October, there will be four flights per week. There are plans to return to a daily service as soon as possible and it may even happen before 30th October.

Outbound flights from Glasgow will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with a 14.35 departure time, arriving at 01.05.

Emirates is using a two-class Boeing 777-200LR.

If you are travelling through Glasgow later this year, here is our latest review of the Upperdeck Lounge (the Priority Pass option) and here is our review of the new luxury Lomond Lounge. Lounges can be booked here.

British Airways finally starts the bulk of its Southampton routes

At long last, after many false starts, this weekend will see the start of the bulk of the new British Airways routes from Southampton.

According to a BA CityFlyer post on LinkedIn, today will see the launch or relaunch of:

  • Alicante
  • Bergerac
  • Berlin
  • Faro
  • Malaga
  • Mykonos

Ibiza, Palma and Edinburgh have already launched and will continue.

I’m not sure if we will see the other three proposed routes – Florence, Limoges, Nice – this season.

Our last review of The Spitfire Lounge at Southampton Airport is here from 2018. You can find out more about the Spitfire Executive Lounge on the Southampton Airport website here.

Emirates Skywards does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Emirates Skywards miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Emirates Skywards mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.
