British Airways has launched its Black Friday deals, with both flight and holiday savings to be made.

There are no Club World or First Class flight deals, although there are some good World Traveller (economy) fares to the US, especially as flights to the US in general are quite expensive at the moment. The headline offer from BA is “20,000 seats to New York, Boston and Philadelphia for £299 pp return” which is a very attractive price.

If you are looking for a Business Class deal, you should look at British Airways Holidays. As well as making a saving, you would also qualify for DOUBLE tier points if you book for 5+ nights for a holiday before 31st March 2022.

You will receive DOUBLE British Airways Executive Club tier points too

One of the most attractive promotions currently running from any travel company is the BA Holidays ‘double tier points’ offer.

If you book a ‘flight and hotel’ or ‘flight and car’ package for 5+ nights via BA Holidays, for travel completed by 31st March 2022, you will receive double tier points on your flights.

This could be hugely attractive. For example, until a date to be announced in June 2022, you only need 450 Executive Club tier points for Silver status, which gets you lounge access.

You could get this in one trip. For example, booking Manchester to Corfu in Club Europe, you would get (40 + 80 + 80 + 40) x 2 = 480 tier points. You get a holiday and up to 25 months of BA lounge access and free seat selection, depending on how you time it.

Full details of the ‘double tier points’ offer can be found on BA Holidays here.

As well as saving money versus buying your flights and hotel separately, there are some other attractive benefits of booking with British Airways Holidays which you may have forgotten about:

  • earn 1 Avios per £1 spent at BA Holidays -this is on top of the Avios you earn on your flights plus the Avios you will earn if you pay with a BA American Express card
  • you can secure your trip with a small deposit now and pay the balance nearer the date of travel
  • BA’s ‘Book With Confidence’ policy gives you flexibility if you voluntarily choose to delay your trip

The British Airways Black Friday sale is available on bookings made before 30th November 2021 and valid on travel until 20th October 2022. To receive double tier points, you need to travel by 31st March 2022.

If you have one flight either side of your TP collection date, which year gets the double TPs? Or is it done on a flight by flight basis?

  • Mark Rogers says:

Notwithstanding the negative comments and the actual offers here, are BA holidays any use to me if I have Amex companion vouchers to use up?

  • Hulk says:

Am I the only one who still cannot log in to my BA App on iOS?

  • His Holyness says:

Yawn, can someone wake me up when there is something worth bothering about?

  • Chris says:

Does the Ba holiday double tier points offer have a book by date or is it just for any holidays before the March date?

  • John T says:

The fact that BA Holidays cannot be bothered offering anything more than their standard and pathetic 3% discount for a four figure holiday for Black Friday, supposedly the biggest and best sale of the year tells you everything you need to know about how they market their offers.

  • ATP says:

Hi all, had 12500 Avios transferred from my BAPP to BAEC during the IT outage, but it’s not showing yet on my BAEC despite happening 5 days ago according to Amex statement (portal Avios has shown during this time though). Do I contact Amex or BAEC silver or do they have a credit card line I call? TIA

    • AJA says:

Be patient and give it another week or so before chasing. The Avios everyone earned during the outage are slowly being posted. If you must contact anyone it will be BA but they might request you do a missing Avios claim online.

  • IC says:

Thank for the double-tier-point info and just made a booking (flight+hotel) today. I have confirmed three things with the customer service agents:
    1. You CANNOT book multiple hotels to get this double tier-point offer. A stay means ‘staying (5 and more nights) at the same hotel’ throughout your trip.
    2. If you have CASH voucher issued by BA before (e.g. flight ticket), you can use that single voucher to offset the costs of holiday package by calling them. They will do it manually for you, and the remaining values (if any) will be converted into a new e-voucher. You CANNOT use Avios e-voucher to do so as it refers to different payment systems.
    3. You can change your trip for free 21 days before your original outbound date while postponing the trip to whenever you can see flights on BA website (fare differences apply). However, for trips starting on and after 1 Sept 2022, you cannot request for an e-voucher anymore if you consider cancelling the trip again.
