(SOLD OUT) easyJet launches a £695 advent calendar – and it’s probably worth the money

Whilst my children have been badgering me for a cheap chocolate-filled advent calendar from the supermarket, you may want to splash out on something a little more luxurious for yourself.

easyJet may have the answer. Take a look here.

easyJet has launched what it is calling an ‘Advent(ure) Calendar’. There are 12 drawers, each containing special travel treats.

The project will raise funds for Age UK.

Whilst costing £695, easyJet claims that the contents are worth over £1,500. This is potentially true and you could do even better.

You will receive:

  • four pairs of return flights for two including hold luggage – this could be very valuable as you seem to be getting virtually guaranteed availability
  • £45 to spend on easyJet’s onboard bistro
  • £75 of vouchers to spend on tours and excursions via ‘GetYourGuide’
  • A £50 car rental discount voucher

What is the small print on the flight redemptions?

There are very few restrictions, which makes it easier to get real value from this package. There are only three rules worth noting:

  • flights to Dalaman and Sharm el Sheikh are excluded
  • each pair of tickets cannot have a cash value of more than £750 (which gives you a huge amount of leeway, because even peak season easyJet flights rarely get beyond £375 return per person)
  • you cannot split a pairs of flights – each booking must be for two people who travel together (ie a solo traveller cannot have eight free flights)

The only thing that is not clear is if you can use two vouchers on the same flight for a family of four. This would technically break the rules on the buyer or recipient being a traveller on each voucher, although the buyer is ‘using’ the voucher and would be travelling. It also isn’t clear if pairs of flights could be gifted to different people.

All vouchers must be redeemed between 1st December 2021 and 31st December 2022.

The calendar is on sale now via this link where you can also find full terms and conditions. Quantities are described as ‘limited’ which is not surprising, given that 100% of your payment is going to Age UK.

Brilliant. If BA or Virgin offered me something like this I’d be so impressed, especially if it was tailored towards my particular travel history and future bookings.

  • Jo Hamilton says:

Does anyone know whether the easyjet plus membership is for one person or two (things like allocated seating are not much use if two of you are flying but you have only one easyjet plus membership)?

  • David D says:

I didn’t receive an order confirmation email – have others received any notification as yet?

  • Alex says:

Trying to get one today. so far waited for 30 min and looks like another 3 hours or more. Why not allow people get one online or via the phone

Your position is 46 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 165 minute(s) and 59 seconds. Thank you for waiting.

  • Bob Clarke says:

Giving up! Thrown off four times using Samsung mobile. Each time an even longer wait and higher queue number. Shame purchase process under resources. Looked like a fantastic charity proposal.

  • Jim says:

Watching pain dry to purchase one! If you get in the queue you can buy more than one.
Be patient! It’s an interesting process they choose to! Guess it really limits the numbers they sell which might be the goal.
They also take their time in the chat, talking to you

  • FZ says:

Entered queue around 10am and finished purchase just now – 12pm…

  • Lucy says:

I was in queue for 2 hours, got through to Ashwani, asked about being able to use vouchers together, was told “you can’t use 3 pairs of voucher in one booking. You need to make 4 bookings for 4 pairs ” Then asked if I could make 3 bookings for same flight and then got cut off ” Ashwani has exited the session”. I guess they have sold out!

    • Zara says:

They don’t really know much about the terms. The guy I had referred me to easyJet t&c as I asked about cancellation policy. He was adamant absolutely not cancellable. I had to copy the link to the advent calendar policy for him to finally admit there was the 14 day window.
He also said must take flight by 31 dec 2022 although clearly it says must book by. He was more of a liability as he was contradicting the “more generous” t&c’s in writing directly to me!
