Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

How to earn Avios points when you stay with Airbnb – up to 6 points per £1

Back in 2019, British Airways partnered with Airbnb to offer Avios with each stay you book.  This sits – literally – alongside BA’s existing hotel partners on this page of ba.com.

You earn 2 Avios per £1/€1/$1 spent at Airbnb.

With your first Airbnb booking, you earn 6 Avios per £1/€1/$1.

How to earn Avios when you stay with Airbnb

The only snag is that you MUST book via a dedicated link on ba.com.  You will not receive any Avios if you go via the standard Airbnb home page.

In a recent change, you can also now earn Avios for booking Airbnb Experiences.

These are, to quote:

Enjoy unique experiences designed and hosted by locals that go beyond typical tours or workshops. Experiences offer guests the chance to explore new places and cultures – both virtually or in-person.”

Earn Avios with Airbnb

You will earn 3 Avios for every £1 spent on Airbnb Experiences.

The terms and conditions state that you will receive your Avios within 60 days of booking (not 60 days of staying) so this isn’t one for you if you need some Avios in a hurry.  The risk is that you totally forget about your points whilst waiting for the 60 day period to pass.

You can find out more, including the detailed terms and conditions, on the Airbnb page of ba.com here.

PS.  In the past there has been a generous Avios incentive for becoming an Airbnb host.  This is not currently available.

Guess if I’m on an existing Airbnb booking currently no chance of getting them added?

In my experience miles rarely post even using correct link

    • Gavin says:

Not my experience – I did 2 stays of 28 days in early 2021, both of them posted. 10k Avios earned from effectively paying my rent.

try a different browser if it isn’t tracking correctly

  • Mikeact says:

No problem in Aus, NZ and NA for us….easy Avios.

  • John says:

I spent £2k with Airbnb in September ‘21, booked using the BA link, but there’s nothing on my BA Avios account to indicate any credit relating to Airbnb.

    • John says:

Correcting myself… the Avios were received within 5 weeks of my initial booking and before the final part-payment. Search category: miscellaneous / title: Airbnb Guest Avios Award

  • Rob says:

Er, because most partners don’t work like that? You can, for example, get Nectar points off eBay however you go to eBay.

    • Alex Sm says:

But before going to eBay, you need to save offer on Nectar app and click through the saved offer to get to eBay website. Otherwise, you are “stuffed” as you like to say 🙂
