News in brief:

Get 33% off Railcards

The Trainline is running a generous deal in association with Railcard.

Until 28th February, you can save a third on the purchase of any Railcard.

The only catch is that the offer only applies to Digital Railcards, and you need to make the purchase via The Trainline app. This is not hugely onerous, however.

Veterans and Disabled Persons Railcards are excluded due to issues over checking your credentials.

Full details of how to claim the offer can be found on The Trainline website here.

Details of the different Railcards available can be found on the Railcard website here but to get the 33% discount you need to follow the purchase route outlined on The Trainline site.

Off to Al Maha too – end of Sep. Cleared out my Marriott balance…can’t wait 👍.

    • pauline says:

I have always fancied Al Maha – can you buy a meals package if you book with points. I am only gold so meals would not be included?

      • Guernsey Globetrotter says:

        Al Maha is all inclusive.

        • AndyF says:

Not on a points booking, however. Surely…

        • TGLoyalty says:

It’s not all inclusive it’s full board I believe they offer a small bottle of port but no other alcohol unless you purchase.

@Rob there was a point where they were charging redemption guests for meals and I believe you can purchase additional experiences/meals/alcohol etc so they wouldn’t have been setting anything special up.

  • Martin Metcalfe says:

For clarity it’s not all railcards, it’s most. I tried to get a Veterans one, but it’s not included however a 3 year one is 70 which works out around 23 a year, so still decent. There are some not included, but most are.

  • strickers says:

If I’m being pedantic, then not all railcards because the veterans one isn’t included.

  • OrlandoBelle says:

All railcards ? Last time this offer was on the Veterans railcard was excluded, would be great ( for me) if it was.

  • Nick G says:

Booked a week at Reges in Cesme in August for a week. Cash price 669euros/night or 4683euros for the week. Points cost £923 for a week. Bargain!!!

  • ChrisC says:

“Please note that the Disabled Persons Railcard and Veterans Railcard are not available to buy with us. We are currently working on the ability to verify eligibility.”

  • KP says:

I already have a 26-30 railcard which expires in Aug. Can I buy one and have it start from Aug ?

    • BH says:

I just checked this for myself. You can only renew 30 days in advance without losing any days.

      • John says:

If you’re no longer eligible you won’t be able to renew (the only reason that someone would want to buy a new railcard early)

    • John says:

If you bought your current one from the official railcard website you can buy another one from trainline at any time.

If your current one was from trainline, I think you need to make a new trainline account

  • Tom says:

If you need a railcard, worth buying sooner rather than later. Trainline were doing 50% off around Black Friday and then suddenly pulled the deal because too many people were taking advantage of it. So there may be small print somewhere limiting numbers.

    • ChrisC says:

      There is

      “What does limited availability mean?

“Limited availability means that we only have a certain number of digital Railcards. Our 33% off promotion will be running until the 28th of February 2022, unless we reach our limit of 300,000 digital Railcards sold at 33% off beforehand. If you miss your chance to save on a digital Railcard, we recommend keeping an eye out for further promotions in the very near future!

    • Guy says:

Yep, I got bitten by this, still well within their stated dates for the offer, yet pulled early as it was ‘too popular’ no mention of this in the T&C’s and a lot of angry people were told. ‘Tough, look out in the future for offers.’

Not that inclined to give them any future business.

    • Yorkieflyer says:

Yes helped myself to a 3yr, old duffer card then, great value, but annoying that the card can’t be saved in Apple Wallet.
