Good oneworld flight deals out of Dublin – so good that I booked one

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A number of attractive flight deals have been launched by the oneworld alliance airlines, plus Aer Lingus, out of Dublin.

This isn’t part of an official Aer Lingus sale but the deals are definitely there.

Options include:

Aer Lingus A330
  • Cancun €1,310
  • New York €1,332
  • Montreal €1,346
  • Mexico City €1,363
  • Miami €1,366

I managed to book two tickets for myself and my daughter for exactly €3,000 for a New York trip we had agreed to do together in July. It is a midweek trip, with no Saturday night stay, and most ‘sale’ fares wouldn’t cover that. This one does.

With the taxes and charges on Avios and Virgin Points flights to New York in Business Class now approaching £1,000 per person, paying €1,500 cash out of Dublin was a no-brainer.

It also means I can review the A321neo Business Class seat for HfP – and I managed to get us both ‘throne’ seats in both directions:

Aer Lingus A321 neo busines class

Importantly, if you book an Aer Lingus ticket on aerlingus.com, it is fully flexible. As long as you are travelling by 30th September, you can refund any Business Class ticket on Aer Lingus for a CASH refund, less a 15% fee. This meant that using cash over Avios was a no-brainer.

These fares require a minimum three day stay and must be booked by 31st March for travel by 31st December.

For routes on Aer Lingus, you should book directly via Aer Lingus here to ensure you can easily get a refund if needed. Remember you need to book from Dublin, not London.

Other routes, which will send you Dublin – London – [wherever], can be booked on ba.com here.

It is also worth looking at Expedia for pricing, but try to book direct if you can. If we learned one thing during the pandemic, it is that you should not use online travel agents if you can in case ‘stuff happens’.
