No Stansted Express from Liverpool Street or airport trains from London Victoria over Easter

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If you are heading to an airport this Easter you should double-check how you are getting there as a lot of public transport options are out of action. This includes the Picadilly Line, which we wrote about last week, which will be closed beyond Acton Town from 15th to 18th April.

It is not just Heathrow that is affected. You will also struggle to get to Gatwick or Stansted.

Heading to Stansted?

Stansted Express trains from Liverpool Street are suspended from 15th to 18th April between Waltham Cross and Stansted due to engineering works. More information is here.

Heading to Gatwick?

Trains between Victoria and Gatwick, including the Gatwick Express, have also been suspended between the 15th and 18th, again owing to engineering works. Details are here on the Gatwick Express site. Thameslink trains are still running via St Pancras, Farringdon, Blackfriars and London Bridge.

There is also substantial disruption to many other rail and London Underground routes, as well as the usual Bank Holiday traffic jams if the sun shows any signs of coming out. Going away in the UK isn’t going to be a walk in the park (unless you literally do that) either ….

No article on IHG ONE ?

    • Rob says:

They didn’t give it us in advance and it broke overnight.

    • Andrew says:

Looks like some really great changes – the free breakfast is well overdue and will be very welcome – hopefully applies to rewards bookings too – and with the dilution of the free breakfast at Hilton in the US, it makes IHG more valuable.

      • John says:

Hmm, I might actually start staying at HIX again in places where there is no Hilton. Well at least I still have my creation card

  • Genghis says:

Thameslink goes from St Pancras, not Kings X.

    Bank holiday travel misery!

Looks like Spire Elite will transfer to Diamond Elite from April, until 2023.

  • Gugu says:

    This country is a joke…

    • Charles Martel says:

Its an inconvenience but these works are scheduled when passenger numbers are at their lowest. It would be far worse to undertake the works when fewer people are taking leave.

  • Vicky says:

Help please. I’ve been trying to provide Covid docs through BA manage my booking for 3 days & going round in circles. When I check progress it says ‘We are waiting for you to provide more information to us’ but if I try to provide any info it says I’ve already provided it. Check in is at 10am today and no response from Twitter in past 2 days and can’t get through on phone. Thanks

    • Nick says:

Stop panicking and just check in at the airport.

      • Vicky says:

I’m not panicking thank you. I’m a seasoned flyer but I don’t want to turn up at the airport and have some BA staff say my docs aren’t correct. Also, flying biz and would like to be able to select my own seat.

        • Red says:

You should be able to select your seat in MMB. We had no problems with getting our documents checked at checkin on Monday am. Just double check your destination country’s requirements

    • lumma says:

Flew out of T3 on Sunday (to Spain) and went to the check in desk and she just told me I’d already checked in and reprinted the boarding pass.

At the gate the alarm went off but it was just because the at seat power wasn’t working.

I can’t upload the documents through the app on my phone though – when I go to search for the files my phone only shows photos saved to the phone not pdfs or other docs. It won’t actually let me choose a photo though, they’re all greyed out, so I can’t screenshot the pdf either.

  • Nick says:

Southern trains are still running to Gatwick as well as Thameslink, they’re just going from London Bridge instead. So frequency and capacity are unaffected. Just a bit annoying for anyone in Chelsea or Clapham 😜

  • TJomes says:

“the first fight from Birmingham to Belfast City” ? I do hope not.
