Bid for British Grand Prix packages with your Marriott Bonvoy hotel points

Marriott Bonvoy has brought back its annual round of standard and VIP tickets for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on 3rd July.
Hilton Honors is also offering packages, as we wrote about here, but Marriott is offering a far broader range and at lower price points.
Unfortunately all of the packages are being auctioned, which makes it difficult to transfer American Express Membership Rewards into Marriott Bonvoy in the hope of picking up some tickets. You run a risk of being left high and dry if the bidding runs away from you.
What British Grand Prix packages is Marriott offering?
The ‘Marriott Moments’ website is here. You need to filter the target destination by ‘Silverstone’ under the UK section.
Standard seats:
Qualifying Day (Saturday 2nd July) – 10 x pairs of standard seats available, with a minimum bid of 15,000 Bonvoy points per pair
Race Day (Sunday 3rd July) – 10 x pairs of standard seats available, with a minimum bid of 47,500 Bonvoy points per pair as of last night
VIP packages:
VIP team experience:
Available for Friday 1st July, Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July via separate auctions:
- VIP Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team experience
- Behind-the-scenes access – note that you do NOT have views of the circuit from the team base
- Full catering, refreshments, and complimentary drinks
- A gift from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
- Round-trip transportation between the hub hotel and circuit
- No Under 18’s allowed
VIP hospitality lounge experience:
Available for Friday 1st July, Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July via separate auctions:
- VIP access to The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Silver Arrows Lounge
- Opportunity to meet Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team personnel
- Gourmet food and beverages
- A gift from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
- Round-trip transportation between the hub hotel and circuit
- No Under 12’s allowed
The packages for race day tend to go for silly numbers of points – the lounge package is 450,000 points at the time of writing whilst the ‘no circuit view’ team experience is 300,000 points.
The other packages attract a lot less interest, and indeed there are currently no bids at all for most of the standard tickets for qualifying day.
Note that all auctions end on 2nd June.
