How much do these cruises cost for cash?

Take a look – you’re getting almost €3,000 of value for your 95,000 Virgin Points on peak dates:

Here is what the Virgin Red site has to say:

Ahoy there! This is a limited-time special offer, and there is only a limited number of cabins available. Choose ANY 7-night sailing from Barcelona on Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady between now and 16/10/2022 – just as long as you complete your booking by 19/06/2022.

Not only does this offer present jaw-dropping value – you also get to pick your preferred route and sail dates! Our cousins over at Virgin Voyages have curated three itineraries featuring some of the most idyllic islands and effervescent cities in Europe. All journeys begin and end in Barcelona, with an overnight finale in Ibiza.

It gets even better… When it comes to additional costs, Virgin Voyages has you covered – all food, soft drinks, tips, group fitness classes, entertainment and Wi-Fi are always included.

With menus crafted by Michelin-starred chefs, the responsibly sourced food makes it easy to strike a balance. From their first-to-sea Korean BBQ and elegant steakhouse to the 24/7 diner perfect for satiating those late-night cravings, Virgin Voyages take food, and the experience around it, seriously.

This is your holiday and they’ve made it a point to ensure that you get a healthy dose of Vitamin Sea… This means there are no kids on board. From workout classes and gym facilities to luxe spa treatments, the adults-only voyage gives you plenty of chances to relax, rejuvenate, and restore. And if you want to sit back and do nothing, fresh-pressed juices served poolside will make “nothing” feel like everything.

And when you’re done with whatever self-care looks like for you, the one-of-a-kind, I’ve-definitely-never-seen-anything-like this-before entertainment awaits your arrival. Between modern, larger-than-life retellings of Romeo and Juliet (with a circus twist) and immersive pop-up acts that happen organically throughout the voyage, you’ll see the ship brought to life in new and unexpected ways.

As for digs, you’ll be kicking back in The Sea Terrace (or Limited View Sea Terrace, depending on availability). Designed to give sweeping views of the horizon from the front and back zones of the ship, these cabins boast a configurable bed and high-tech mood lighting, allowing you to transform the space and create your own vibe. To top it all off, the hammock on the terrace is perfect for a little ‘me’ time, while the 24-hour food delivery service is on hand to thwart any pesky 2am cravings.

Word of advice: don’t pay for any flights or transfers until your place on board is confirmed by Virgin Voyages! Spaces are filling up quickly, so pick your jaw off the floor and make a splash by booking your spot today. Hurry, these cabins will be gone faster than you can say “cannonball”.

Virgin Voyages Miami

I fancy a Caribbean cruise instead …..

And why not? (Apart from the need to fly to Miami.)

There are also cruises on Scarlet Lady, the first Virgin Voyages ship. The timings are the same – book by 19th June (or until cabins run out) for travel by 16th October. Look on the Virgin Voyages website to see which cruises operate on which dates.

Here are your options:

Fire & Sunset Soirées (115,000 points)

  • Day 1 – Miami. Departs at 1900
  • Day 2 – Key West or Nassau. Arrives at 0800, departs at 1900
  • Day 3 – Beach club at Bimini. Arrives at 0800, departs at 2000
  • Day 4 – Sailing
  • Day 5 – Miami. Arrives at 0630

Riviera Maya (125,000 points)

  • Day 1 – Miami. Departs at 1900
  • Day 2 – Sailing
  • Day 3 – Cozumel, Playa del Carmen. Arrives at 0800, departs at 2200
  • Day 4 – Sailing
  • Day 5 – Beach club at Bimini. Arrives at 0800, departs at 2000
  • Day 6 – Miami. Arrives at 0630

Dominican Daze (125,000 points)

As above but Day 3 is in Puerto Plata

Mayan Sol (125,000 points)

As above but Day 3 is in Costa Maya

The Caribbean cruises are poorer value, because you are using more points for a shorter cruise, plus you will need flights to Miami. These cruises are also discounted for cash until the end of May.

Note that there is no guarantee that you can book the exact cruise you want, although in reality – with loads reportedly low – it shouldn’t be a problem. No-one who booked when this offer ran a couple of weeks ago had any trouble getting the dates they wanted.

If you want to find out more about Virgin Voyages, here is our report from an afternoon on ‘Scarlet Lady’, the first ship in the fleet.

You can book via the Virgin Red app or online. Filter the ‘Spend’ options by ‘High To Low Points’ to find them quickly.

  • Gareth Bond says:

Managed to secure, just awaiting my code and hoping they have the irresistible Med option as been all the other places. Also hopeful they will refund the points if not available. On another note flights to BCN are sky high, I wonder if there is a connection

    • chrischris2202 says:

Same here, waiting for my code to book in the Med option.
Thinking about doing the Sep dates as flights are a bit cheaper then..

On another note does anyone have experience with upgrades? Would prefer a sea terrace room but not sure how much you’d have to “bid”?

      • Sina says:

You will be able to book a Sea Terrace with your code, no need to upgrade!

        • chrischris2202 says:

          Just re-read it! Thank you!
I somehow believed I’d only get the cheapest cabin hehe, good deal.

  • Nick says:

    Med gone again lol

  • Nick says:

Any idea how long tokens are taking at the minute. I’m about 48 hours in and excited 😆

    • JohnG says:

Got mine about an hour ago having booked before the article was back up, so around 48 hours. It says within 72 hours on the site so yours should come soon if it hasn’t already.

  • Noel says:

Requested my code lunchtime Wednesday, received it 5pm Thursday, all booked for the Spanish one 28th August with a mate. What an epic deal! Massive thanks @rob and the team 🙂

  • Ian Snowley says:

Hi all, I’ve happily booked for my preferred date/cruise (I redeemed Tuesday night got the code last night) – but I can’t get anywhere with an upgrade! I phoned and they have availability for ST-XL and suites but the agent wanted to charge the full cost! So can anyone share details if they did manage an upgrade whilst I wait for the office to reopen so I can try again. It probably doesn’t matter but the trip is a special occasion so it would be nice to upgrade if possible. Many thanks Ian

    • Rob says:

Those who did the earlier trip said the upgrade offer came a couple of weeks before departure.

      • Ian Snowley says:

Thanks Rob, that’s useful to know and makes sense!

    • Pops says:

I asked about an upgrade to an XL cabin and was quoted £500

  • Grimz says:

Any idea how to get to Barcelona using Virgin points?

    • Rob says:

Fly to Atlanta and change to a Delta flight to Barcelona ….

      • Gareth says:

Can you use Air France or KLM as part of codeshare.
Personally I’m using Avios with BA but of a PITA via LHR but making use of their value. Just waiting for Code, been over 48 hours

        • Rob says:

Yes, you could do it on Air France via Paris or KLM via Amsterdam of course. Atlanta might be more fun though …

  • Ryan Jenkins says:

I ordered around 2pm Weds and still waiting for my access key? Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Jake Jones says:

9PM Tuesday for me. Nearly the 72 hours now..
