As travel begins to restart, we have brought back our regular round-up of the best hotel promotions currently running.

All of the information in this article can also be found on our ‘Hotel Offers’ page which contains details of all of the current offers, together with links to our major articles on each hotel scheme.  However, a positive response from readers – especially our 15,000 email subscribers – means we run this monthly article as a handy summary.

Here are quick summaries and links to the registration pages you need for each offer – do it before you forget. Unfortunately it is a fairly thin list at the moment:

Current American Express cashback offers

It’s also worth noting the current American Express cashback offers which may be showing on one of your cards and which may influence which hotels you book this month:

  • Get £50 cashback on £200 of Hilton spend, expires 30th June
  • Get £100 cashback on £250 of Hyatt spend, expires 31st August
  • Get £50 cashback on £200 of IHG spend (mid-market hotels), expires 15th June

  • Get £100 cashback on £400 of Marriott spend (luxury hotels), expires 31st July

Remember that each offer only applies to a specific list of participating hotels in Europe.

Where should you credit your stays for June 2022?

Remember that, irrespective of the offers below, there is never a single ‘best’ offer.

Some offers require multiple stays to maximise the bonus, which you might not do. Some require stays to be a minimum number of nights before a bonus is earned.

You need to factor in any elite status you have, which will earn you additional status bonuses.

More importantly, you need to be able to use the points. There is no value in earning a large bonus in a scheme where you will never go on to earn enough points to get a free night.

That said, with only Hilton and IHG to choose from this month, it won’t be too hard to make a choice …..

Hilton (Hampton, Conrad, Waldorf-Astoria etc)

Hilton has a Summer offer called ‘More Nights, More Points’.  You can register here.  Our full article is here.

You will earn double base points on stays of 1-2 nights and triple base points on stays of three or more nights up to 5th September.

You need to register in advance of your stay via the Hilton website here.  Existing bookings count and all Hilton Honors hotels are taking part.

The Hilton booking page is here.

IHG One Rewards new offers

IHG (InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo etc)

Between 18th May and 31st August, you can earn bonus base points on your IHG One Rewards stays.

You must register in advance via this link. Registration is now open.

You will earn:

  • No bonus on your first night during the promo period
  • 2x base points on your 2nd to 5th nights
  • 3x base points on your 6th to 14th nights
  • 4x base points on your 15th and additional nights

In terms of counting ‘nights’, reward nights do not count. This is different from the way that IHG usually counts ‘nights’ in terms of earning elite status or milestone rewards.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.  Only one room per stay counts towards the offer, so if you are booking multiple rooms you should put each in a different name.

The home page for bookings is here.

And finally …..

If you booking a luxury hotel, remember that we can offer you exclusive additional benefits at Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Peninsula and similar hotels.

Click here for details of our luxury hotel booking service in association with Bon Vivant / Virtuoso.  Feedback from readers who have used this service so far has been excellent and we have booked over £1.7 million of rooms so far.

Hyatt have a Zilara (Adults only) A.I. Opening in Riviera Maya Cancun in December, Rates from $149 pn. Book by 30th June 2022, Travel 1st December 2022 – 23rd December 2023. I stayed at the sister hotel “Hyatt Ziva”In the same location in December and was impressed, Especially with the quality of the food offering….
I have Stayed at most of the Ziva/Zilara A.I. Properties in Mexico and around the Caribbean and I rate them.
They are a Category C. I have achieved a Christmas and New year stay for £330 pn using points….

  • Save East Coast Rewards says:

I went to book the Hilton Bournemouth for next week and all usually flexible rates required 90 days notice for penalty free cancellation. The Hampton next door (same owners, THAT Group) has the same policy. Whereas the DT Southampton (also appears when you search for Bournemouth) is 4pm on day of stay and Hilton Southampton is the day before.

Not offering any sort of flexible rate seems crazy. I wonder if it’s a mistake or deliberate.

    • Save East Coast Rewards says:

Looks like it’s a summer only thing. I looked later in the year and it goes back to one days notice to cancel. Looks like they’re trying to make up their covid losses with the tourism season

      • Gordon says:

That’s was my thoughts exactly, And it’s happening the world over….

        • Craig says:

Agreed: hard to find c.£40pn Hilton’s these days and Marriotts (Delta’s) are like Hens teeth below £65-70pn…

  • YC says:

It’s not a global promo but Marriott have an ‘exclusively for you’ promo running for many

    • Craig says:

Had one end of 2021 IIRC, probably carrot dangled to entice me back due to (a) C19 and (b) I hadn’t stayed in many Marriotts (understandably due to a.!) last year… it was 4,500 points after 1st stay then an extra 7,500 after 2nd stay…

      • YC says:

I had one at the end of 2021 and another now. First was double points and now it’s 2k/3k for first two weekend stays. Nothing special but works well for cheap stays and stacks with amex

  • TP says:

Does any of the major hotel groups allow you to pay in GBP when booking abroad?

I assume that the Amex promotions will still incur the usual 3% foreign spend surcharge.?

    • Rob says:

Yes but obviously you can split payment so you only put the minimum on the Amex.

  • Stephan says:

At the JW Marriott restaurant in Cannes. Lovely layout and spacious. If the two marriott deals had overlapped for this hotel I possibly would have stayed here but the Hyatt offer was too good to give a miss at the Hyatt Regency in Nice as well as booking via Emyr
