Whilst we tend to feature interesting UK ‘experiences’ redemptions from the major hotel loyalty schemes, we rarely focus on deals outside the UK and Ireland.
If you have a flexible diary, however, you can get some good deals this way. Marriott Bonvoy wanted 75,000 points for two tickets to see Queen + Adam Lambert in its suite at the O2 in London recently. For the same concert – with full hospitality – at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, it only wanted 30,000 points. The saving would have paid for your flights.
A reader flagged up this excellent auction package at the Hotel Danieli in Venice for Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th July. It is worth noting that bids close in four days and there are no bids yet.
If you could get this package for the minimum bid of 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you’d have got the bargain of the year:
“Experience the unique legacy of Hotel Danieli, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice, with a refined bicentennial celebration. Enjoy a two-night stay in a Dandolo Suite with complimentary breakfast, a 5-course tasting menu journeying through the 18th and 19th centuries, and a signature pre-dinner bicentennial cocktail “Rosso Danieli.” Plus, get tickets to Benjamin Britten’s opera “Peter Grimes,” and a private tour of La Fenice Opera House.
- Two-night stay in a Dandolo Suite at Hotel Danieli, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice, checking in 4 July and checking out 6 July
- Pre-dinner signature bicentennial cocktail “Rosso Danieli” at Bar Dandolo on 4 July
- 5-course tasting menu journeying though the 18th and 19th centuries, with wine pairing, at Restaurant Terrazza Danieli on 4 July
- Private tour of La Fenice Opera House on 5 July 2022
- Tickets to Benjamin Britten’s opera “Peter Grimes” at La Fenice Opera House on 5 July
- Complimentary breakfast
Experience is for two people.”
To put this into context, the suite alone costs €3,000 for a 2-night stay over those dates.
