Will there be a bank holiday for the funeral?

Sounds like it’s on Monday 19th.

I’ll be taking the day off work either way but it would be a fitting tribute/would allow people to pay their respects

    • ari etisteinberg says:

I think the whole doting nation will take the day off work – but how about if they made the funeral last 3 days? Then we’d get 3 days off instead of 1. Perhaps the Late Queen should lie in state for 2 days before the State Funeral, so we could pay our respects properly. Just a thought.

      • ari etisteinberg says:

Think about it – if they timed the State Funeral right and gave us 3 days off as Bank Holidays so that we could mourn properly and come to terms with the shock of this poor 96 year old Highly Respected Monarch dying unexpectedly, then we could get a free 5 day long weekend out of it.

    Beautifully done, HfP.

Message of condolence on the passing of The Queen on the flag carriers website quite rightly, as well as on Easyjet, Loganair, and also American Airlines. Not surprisingly nothing on Ryanair or shamefully Virgin Atlantic.

  • Gary O'Sh says:

Lovely pictures. Many thanks Rob and the HfP team.

At 96, its not exactly, a shock but either way I hope she can R.I.P

    • ari etisteinberg says:

It was a big shock to me, David. One day she was smiling happily at Miss Liz Truss and doing the professional finger kissing stuff they do with new PMs – probably also had just had a big laugh with Boris Johnson in the morning as they got on great. Next thing, she’s toes up, gone to meet the Big Maker.

Her Mother (the Queen Mother) lived until she was 102. Her dear husband Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh (consort of the British Monarch) lived until he was 100. It gives you expectations.

Why oh why did Elizabeth R have to go so young?
