New £50 American Express and Hilton cashback offer launched

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

American Express has launched a new cashback deal with Hilton, covering selected European hotels.

If you are targetted, you will see the deal on the ‘Offers’ page of one or more of your Amex cards on the app or website. Don’t waste your time checking your Marriott Bonvoy Amex however ….

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £200 on your card with Hilton by 16th December.

£50 American Express and Hilton cashback offer launched

The rules confirm that cumulative spend counts – you don’t need to do £200 in one transaction. The list of participating hotels is here.

There are a huge number of UK hotels listed – albeit with some missing – along with a large number in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Existing bookings are fine as long as they are not already pre-paid. There is no need to rebook anything, unless you do what I did and swap a points stay – which was already marginal on a ‘pence per point’ basis – for a cash booking.

This offer stacks with the current Hilton promotion

Don’t forget to register for Hilton’s new promotion if you are planning a stay.

Hilton’s Autumn offer is called ‘Double Your Stay’.  You can register here.  Our full article is here. It runs until 31st December.

It is a two part offer, which is interesting.

You will earn double base points on all stays.

You will earn an additional 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points per stay if you check out on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

We value 2,000 Hilton Honors points at £6.66 so – when you factor in double base points, any elite status bonus and the American Express cashback – this is very attractive for cheap, short midweek stays.

You need to register in advance of your stay via the Hilton website here.  Existing bookings count and all Hilton Honors hotels are taking part.

IS it possible to buy Hilton vouchers and trigger this offer? if yes, where from? one of the listed hotels?thanks

    • Blenz101 says:

I’ve never heard of a Hilton selling gift vouchers before which makes sense as a gift voucher would require you to visit the property prior to your stay which for most people would be impractical (assuming you don’t need a hotel in a reasonable vicinity of your home).

      • lumma says:

Why not? Many restaurants will sell you a gift card if you go in and ask.

        • Chas says:

I’d have thought because of the way the hotels aren’t actually all owned by Hilton. So the hotel gaining the revenue from the sale of the GC aren’t the ones who would have to accept it. Any cost / benefit analysis to sorting out a system to equalise this is unlikely to be positive.

          • His Holyness says:

Hilton (Central) sell gift vouchers, but this won’t work to get the discount.

        • Blenz101 says:

Buying someone a meal at a restaurant via a gift card isn’t all that unusual and is profitable for the restaurant due to cards going unused and it generally helping with cash flow. Plus, once people have say £100 off their bill they are likely to spend more during their visit. Win win.

Buying someone credit towards a specific chain of hotels would be an odd gift and not worth the chain setting up the infrastructure to deal with such a niche revenue stream.

  • Brian says:

Is there any logic as to what countries get included in these offers and which don’t? Starting to think I should never expect Ireland to be covered. Have a Hilton stay lined up there tomorrow.

  • Nick G says:

I had to do a chat with Amex today as it wasn’t on my gold, nor my wife’s gold, nor either BA Amex. Chased up and got it offered on my gold card.

Staying at the Hilton reading now between Xmas and new year for two nights at s grand cost of £215….minus £50… does a decent (free) breakfast as I’m Hilton gold…. plus double points

  • Lauren says:

I’m quite new to this game, so to confirm; if I reserve a non-advance purchase room on the Hilton website (for a Hilton property on the list), I will be charged upon checkout and can avail this discount?
