NEW: Earn 5 Avios per £1 you spend at Pret A Manger

Here’s a new Avios offer that I think all HfP readers can get their teeth into!

For a two month trial period, until 22nd December, you will earn 5 Avios per £1 spent in Pret A Manger stores.

This is a card linked offer. It means that you need to visit this page of ba.com and register one or more payment cards, if you have not previously done so.

Going forward, you need to use one of your registered payment cards each time you shop in a Pret store.

BA claims that your Avios will arrive within 10 days, which sounds aggressive, but they usually get there in the end.

There is no mention of any exclusions for franchised Pret stores, such as (I imagine) those in Heathrow and in many towns outside London. As it isn’t easy to know when you are in a franchised Pret – the one opposite Cambridge railway station had banned Amex cards when I was there recently, which is a sign of a franchised outlet – I would imagine they count.

Don’t expect anything for purchases in Pret stores outside the UK.

It is worth noting that you can buy gift cards in any Pret store, up to a total value of £150. When you get close to 22nd December, you may want to buy yourself one or more £150 gift cards to lock in 750 Avios each and allow you to effectively keep earning beyond the closing date.

The few times we’ve been to Pret (at T5) they’ve ended up giving us the drinks for free. I’ll have to ask to pay next time!

There are a number of deals for earning Avios by having a linked card that I never knew about. 5/£ at Gaucho popped up on the BA rewards app as I ambled through it the other day…

    • Alan says:

Oh bugger. I spent £120 the other day at Gaucho. Shame the card I used was not linked!

  • lifelessordinary.xyz says:

So double checked. Subscriptions cannot be paid for with gift cards. No dice.

  • Charles Martel says:

Avios seem to have upped their game regarding instore offers, also listed on the website:
    Patisserie Valerie: 15 Avios / £1
    BrewDog Bars UK: 5 Avios / £1
    The Botanist: 10 Avios / £1
The Breakfast Club: 5 Avios / £1 *lots of branch exclusions.

  • Andrew. says:

We’ve got a workplace Pret, this is a good reason to pop downstairs for an extra treat.

Plus if this has turned up at BA, there’s bound to be further Pret offers turn up on the usual “Sports Loyalty” schemes too.

  • Kevin says:

Can one use BA Prepaid Mastercard to ,are it 6 Avios per 1 Great British Kings Pound?

    • Deb20 says:

The BA rewards app, where you have to register the card, doesn’t recognise the BA prepaid card as a valid card!

  • AirMax says:

Are we not going to talk about gamification of the Pret subscription though

    • Andrew J says:

I wouldn’t imagine the online portal that collects payment for that would be included.

  • BJ says:

I guess @Andrew will stick with FishFriday tomorrow as usual.
