Donate Avios to the British Airways Better World Community Fund

British Airways is now allowing Executive Club members to donate spare or unwanted Avios to projects supported by the BA Better World Community Fund. See here for details.
The Community Fund allows UK registered charities or social enterprise working in the UK to receive funding as part of their own crowdfunding activities.
Once your application for support has been accepted, the Community Fund will guarantee to commit up to £50,000 (or 50% of your project target, whichever is smaller) once you have raised 25% of your target. You still need to reach 100% of your target to release the BA money.
How can you support projects with Avios?
Going forward, you can support projects being promoted on the BA Better World Community Fund page with Avios as well as cash. You need a Crowdfunder account to take part.
The minimum donation is just 125 Avios, with a maximum of 30,000 Avios per member per month. You can pick a project from the list on the website.
Until the 31st March, IAG Loyalty will match, £1 for £1, your donation, up to a total match funding of £200,000. It isn’t clear what value is ascribed to the Avios you donate, but I would guess (note, guess) that 125 Avios is worth £1.
