News in brief:

Get 1,000 IHG One Rewards points for downloading the IHG app

You aren’t going crazy. We have written about this offer before in the last couple of weeks!

However, IHG decided to extend it by a week – but only until TODAY (Friday).

IHG One Rewards is offering 1,000 IHG One Rewards points purely for downloading the IHG app.

All you need to do is download it and log in. That’s it. As long as you haven’t downloaded the app before, you qualify for 1,000 points.

Full details are on the IHG website here.

Even if you have downloaded the app before, has your partner?

Heathrow to give away 10,000 gifts to passengers this Christmas

Whilst the travel experience may not be too great this Christmas, given the rail strikes (dates in this article) and the Border Force passport control strikes (dates in this article) Heathrow may be able to cheer you up.

The airport will be giving away 10,000 presents to randomly chosen passengers over the Christmas period.

The promotion will be active across all four terminals, and presents will include flights, lounge access, perfume and champagne – all supplied by shops, bars and restaurants in the airport.

If you are approached by someone in the airport who wants to give you something, don’t turn it down! Let us know if you win anything.

Nouvelair boosts Gatwick to Tunisia services

Nouvelair isn’t an airline we have ever covered before, and it isn’t in any major alliance, but I thought it was worth a quick mention as Tunisia is a popular route.

The airline launched its first UK flights this Summer with three weekly services to from London Gatwick to Tunis.

Flights are continuing into the Winter, with two weekly flights to Tunis on Tuesday and Saturday. It is now the largest operator on the London to Tunis route.

The airline has now secured additional slots and will operate four weekly flights from Summer 2023.

Nouvelair is the first privately owned airline in Tunisia. The parent company has operated charted and scheduled flights since 1989, primarily between France and Tunisia.

So if I want my gift I should step out of the lounge bubble and knock around the terminal hoping to be the chosen one?

  • Paul says:

I’d rather Heathrow employed staff to deliver the basics, keep queues to a minimum and make the experience endurable. The worlds only shopping mall with 2 runways continues to focus on the retail not the detail!

    • babyg says:

      bah humbug!

    • dougzz99 says:

If you honestly believe it’s the only shopping mall with runways attached you haven’t travelled much.

23,000 miles in last 14 days. 7 international airports, 4 airlines.

Almost all airport except HKG had retail and Christmas decorations. All worked seamlessly and facilities that made using the airport easy.
Heathrow was the only place I queued as as premium customer and the only airport I did not spend money in. They need to focus on operational delivery not gimmicks and nonsense like this

    • DaveJ says:

Heathrow doesn’t focus on the retail day to day. Other companies do that for them and they take a cut of the sales

  • Gothbe says:

How long does it take the IHG points to credit?

  • tiriavpo says:

“Even if you have downloaded the app before, has your partner?”
She hasn’t – but what’s the recommended route here – suppose she would then have to register – and then we transfer the points? (Don’t suppose I can log in on her downloaded app)

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

You have to pay to transfer points.

If you logged into your account on her phone you are still logging into your account. She would need to log into her own account to get the points added to her account.

I think Rob was really referrign to a couple who both have IHG accounts and points but only one has previously downloaded the app.

  • G says:

    Good news about Tunisia.

Tunisair are currently split between Gatwick and Stanstead…

The only regular carriers (no oneworld options) are Air France or Lufthansa.

  • r* says:

Normally I wouldnt accept strange packages from someone at an airport! 🙂

  • D says:

Will the 1000 IHG points for downloading the app stop my points expiring? Mine are due to expire 31-Dec.

  • Sam says:

I’m not a member of any hotel loyalty at the moment but are 1,000 IHG points worth a lot?
