News in brief:

BA CityFlyer cancels two routes

As part of these changes to the BA CityFlyer operations, two routes from London City Airport have been cut:

  • London City to Guernsey
  • London City to Santorini

This is on top of the previously reported closure of Milan Malpensa and Menorca.

These were ‘Summer only’ routes which will now not return next year. Guernsey is not served by BA from any other airport, although Aurigny flies from London Gatwick.

Newcastle Airport British Airways flights cut

British Airways services to Newcastle cut back

A large number of changes to the Heathrow Summer 2023 flying schedule were put through this week. If your flight was impacted, you should have received an email from British Airways. There are also a number of short haul terminal swaps between Terminal 3 and Terminal 5.

It is worth flagging that Newcastle will see a sharp cut in the number of flights.

From the end of March 2023, Newcastle will drop from 37 weekly flights to London Heathrow to 29.

NCL is getting a second Loganair Embraer based here, and NCL-OSL (with a tech stop in ABZ) as a result amongst a scattering of other routes and increase in frequencies like NCL-EXT. Now, if QR bring back tasty ex-OSL fares that would work nicely, but hardly a substitute for BA on the LHR-NCL shuttle!

  • Kim Hall says:

My flights in May next year are impacted by the change at NCL. I now have a 12 hour wait between flights. Even though I’m BA gold, I don’t relish 10+ hours stuck in the lounge 🙁

Bits: 15% off Ryanair flights – 15% off Ryanair flights travel between 09/01 to 28/02.

So a small window but the discount is genuine. A route I bought for £31 for New Year’s day £31 (yesterday’s price) is now £26.

Only valid if you book by tomorrow end of day.

V glad about Bergerac. Will probably fit in May and early July trips.

  • G says:

Unrelated, BA have just extended their double tier points offer through till end of December 2023.
