EXTENDED TO AUGUST: 7 nights Virgin Voyages full board cruises for two for 80,000 Virgin Points

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If you missed these amazing offers last year, they are back. You will not find a better points redemption in 2023.

Due to strong demand (mainly from our readers I think!) Virgin Voyages has now opened up dates in August too. The final departure date allowed is now 27th August.

You can get a seven night European cruise on ‘Valiant Lady’ or ‘Resilient Lady’, the 2nd and 3rd ships in the Virgin Voyages fleet, for just 80,000 Virgin Points for two people.

If you don’t have 80,000 Virgin Points in your account, you can buy the extra here. You should still come out ahead.

Valiant Lady Virgin Voyages

What’s included with your cruise?

The cruise is full board. All your meals, soft drinks, fitness classes, entertainment etc are included – even tips.

The following are not included:

  • alcoholic drinks, although package deals are usually offered before departure allowing you to prepay for drinks credit at a discount if you wish
  • flights and transfers to Athens or Barcelona
  • someone to look after your children back home – these are adults only trips

A lot of HfP readers jumped on these redemptions last year. The feedback in our forum has been fantastic – from young and old, from those who wanted a bit of a party to those who simply wanted a quiet break after a tricky couple of years. There is a Virgin Voyages master thread in our forum for your Q&A.

If you are short of Virgin Points, options include:

  • transferring Tesco Clubcard points (should happen overnight)
  • transferring American Express Membership Rewards points (should be instant)
  • transferring Heathrow Rewards points (not clear about timeframe)

  • it is adults only
  • the cost is 80,000 Virgin Points for a Sea Terrace or Limited View Sea Terrace cabin, which sleeps one or two people – there is no discount for single occupancy

How much do these cruises cost for cash?

Take a look – you’re getting up to £2,900 of value for your 80,000 Virgin Points on peak dates. Here is a ‘Greek Island Glow’ quote for the 30th July sailing:

Virgin Voyages 80000 Virgin points offer

This is a ludicrous 3.6p per Virgin Point. That’s 3.6x more than you’ll get for a premium cabin flight in most cases, and 7x more than you’ll get for any other redemption via the Virgin Red site.

Here is what the Virgin Red site has to say:

Ahoy there! This is a limited-time special offer, and there is only a limited number of cabins available. Choose a seven-night sailing departing from either Athens on Resilient Lady or Barcelona on Valiant Lady between 01 June and 31 July 2023 [now 27th August 2023].

The price is per cabin (one or two persons). There is no single sailor supplement available.

Virgin Voyages has curated four glamorous itineraries that allow you to experience some of the most picturesque islands and coastal cities in the Mediterranean. Thanks to late-night departures or overnight finales, you’ll have plenty of time to explore each stop in addition to the ship itself (a destination in its own right). It’s called having your cake and eating it too.

Speaking of cake… Virgin Voyages takes food, and the experience around it, very seriously. With a-la-carte menus crafted by Michelin-starred chefs, you can munch your way through countless unique eateries, from the Korean BBQ and elegant steakhouse to the red hot Mexican and 24/7 diner.

This adults-only voyage is designed to give you plenty of chances to relax, with workout classes, gym facilities and luxe spa treatments to name but a few. And if you want to sit back and do nothing, fresh-pressed juices served poolside will make “nothing” feel like everything.

And when you’re done with whatever self-care looks like for you, the one-of-a-kind, I’ve-definitely-never-seen-anything-like this-before entertainment awaits your arrival. With immersive pop-up acts that could happen anywhere on board, you’ll see the ship brought to life in new and unexpected ways.

As for digs, you’ll be kicking back in The Sea Terrace (or Limited View Sea Terrace, depending on availability). These cabins boast a configurable bed and high-tech mood lighting, allowing you to transform the space and create your own vibe. To top it all off, the hammock on the terrace is perfect for a little ‘me’ time, while the 24-hour food delivery service will be at your beck and call in the unlikely event of hunger pangs.

Wait. It gets even better… When it comes to additional costs, Virgin Voyages has you covered – all food, soft drinks, tips, group fitness classes, entertainment and Wi-Fi are always included.

Word of advice: don’t pay for any flights or transfers until your place on board is confirmed by Virgin Voyages!

Spaces are filling up quickly, so make a splash by booking your spot today. Hurry, these cabins will be gone faster than you can say “cannonball”.

Note that there is no guarantee that you can book the exact cruise you want, although in reality – with loads reportedly low – it shouldn’t be a problem. No-one has had an issue so far.

If you want to find out more about Virgin Voyages, here is our report from an afternoon on ‘Scarlet Lady’, the first ship in the fleet.

If you want to top up your balance by buying Virgin Points, the link is here.

You can book via the Virgin Red app or online. Read the instructions carefully before booking – you need to check there is still a relevant cabin available for cash before ordering your booking code, and once it arrives you should book ASAP before the availability disappears. Codes now seem to be arriving within 24 hours after a slow period over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Based on last year, you should be offered the chance to upgrade your cabin for cash nearer the time of departure if you want something larger.

  • Froggitt says:

Does Virgin have a poker table (holden rather than 3 card) in the casino? MSC don’t, that’s a deal breaker for me.

    • AnotherUser says:

I’d not thought of that. Is the house rake on some of these ships low enough that there’s potential value in playing (as opposed to being a fun way to spend money)?

      • Froggitt says:

No, generally 10% rake, appalling value, so treat it as part of your fun spends.

Apart from Canaries cruises, full of expats who play the worst poker ever, treat them as an ATM

  • Gavin says:

Very keen to book this but constrained by existing commitments on day one (departs 18.00 from Athens). Reached out to Virgin CS to see whether we could board on day two in Santorini (which we can get to effortlessly in comparison).

Official line is ‘Unfortunately, we don’t allow this at the moment’ but presumably people miss their connection all the time – and I’ve seen elsewhere that as long as it’s not at the cruise companies’ expense, arrangements can be made to board at the next port.

Risky? A first time cruiser – any advice/knowledge/experience appreciated.

    • Travel Strong says:

      Definitely risky, but definitely happens.
Check out virgin voyages facebook groups for real world experiences of this occurring. I’ve seen it posted several times, but only when missing the first day due to an unplanned issue. Note it is not possible at all on cruises originating in the USA… but does happen on EU cruises.

      • Rach says:

        Hi,

Along the same lines, do you think its possible to leave the cruise early, fly back from the last stop destination instead of taking the ship back to the origin port?

Would we have to inform them of this or just leave the ship with all our belongings?

        • Peter says:

We did the transatlantic crossing from Miami to Barcelona and some of the passengers did leave the ship early during the stops in Lisbon, Cadiz and Palma. Spoke with a chap over dinner who was doing so the next day and he said he just had to hand in his passport the day before and collect it when disembarking. However I’d be cautious about attempting to disembark in Bodrum or Kotor as they are non Schengen and it could potentially complicate matters. But that said passengers on Cruise ships have emergencies that require them to leave every day so I’d imagine it should be possible. But you do need to tell them in advance.

  • Denis says:

Is there any step by step guide how to? It must what I’m wondering was answered multiple times, but I couldnt find in Virgin FAQ and overwhelming number of comments.
    – to get this you need to go via Virgin Red, not VS (Ive only got account with VS), so create Red account and link it first
    – then you redeem points, then wait for a code and use a code to book a voyage via Virgin cruises – until that point availability is not guaranteed and could be gone
    – can it be booked for someone else (would want to book as a gift for my sis)

If someone could chime in – would greatly appreciate 🙏🙏🙏

    • Rob says:

      Correct.

If you are booking for someone else you should give them the code and have them make the booking off a Virgin Voyages account in their name though, to avoid confusion over the passenger names.

      • Denis says:

Thanks Rob. In terms of gifting it to someone its a best case scenario, when everything is booked on a right name from the beginning.

Anyways apparently Red is available only to US and UK residents, so I couldn’t create an account. Maybe I could ask a friend to receive a text on my behalf but then again when I’ve got ZA address in my VS profile and US address in Re profile – not sure it would link. Too much hassle.

Happy for everyone who got one, truly great value!

  • Kathy says:

I pulled the trigger for end of July this week – flights are kinda ridiculous (£500 return with baggage on WhizzAir!). Which I’d held out for later dates now! Though I suppose end of August wouldn’t my be much better.

Oh well, it’s still a cheap holiday!

  • Spare says:

You removed a civilised and honest discussion just because someone was offended?

    • Rob says:

Civilised homophobia is still homophobia at the end of the day ….

      • Dayle says:

Laughable to delete comments Rob. Nothing homophobic about not providing feedback on what type of vibe there is on a holiday. It’s a healthy discussion to prewarn anyone who has never been before.

        • Rob says:

Saying that you wanted to “warn” other readers about the presence of homosexual couples doesn’t really help your case ….

      • EdForPoints says:

        Thank you for deleting.

  • mart says:

Currently in the air with dodgy internet but hope my observation didn’t trigger anything nasty, was definitely not my intention, I’m the least homophobic person.
Just worried about the brand long term hope I’m wrong.

    • Rhys says:

We deleted the wholethread because it was getting derailed.

  • Yeditepeli says:

I submitted the form to match status with msc gold. However, they just got back to me saying “ We took a deeper dive into your booking and found that you booked with a free or heavily discounted voyage fare. Unfortunately, these bookings are not eligible for the Deep Blue Perks just yet.”

Is this accurate info or were others here successful in getting status match for cruise booked with access code?

    • Peter says:

That’s too bad, however I’ve read that some others got the same message but were still given the perks when they arrived at the port. Maybe try your luck adding it on site before you board.

  • Ben says:

I booked the voucher on Thursday and it hasn’t come through yet – how long is it taking for others?

    • Howard0181 says:

Have a look in spam folder. Thats what happened to us.
