This month marks 25 years of Heathrow Express services since its introduction in June 1998.

Whilst it can’t send you a piece of birthday cake to celebrate, it is doing the next best thing.

It is offering bonus Heathrow Rewards points to anyone who books a fully flexible Heathrow Express train ticket over the next four days, for immediate or future travel. In percentage terms, it is a whopping 2500% increase!

Heathrow Express 25th anniversary bonus Heathrow Rewards points

Get 25 Heathrow Rewards points per £1 with Heathrow Express

Normally, you receive 1 Heathrow Rewards point for every £1 you spend with Heathrow Express.

Until Monday evening, however, Heathrow Express is increasing this to a whopping 25 points per £1.

25 Heathrow Rewards points is the equivalent of, when transferred:

  • 25p of Heathrow shopping vouchers (so you’re getting an effective 25% return on your spending)
  • 25 Avios, Virgin Points or other airline partner miles
  • 50p of Official Heathrow Parking vouchers

The promotion is running for four days this weekend. It started just after midnight today, Friday, and ends at 11:59pm on Monday evening.

You do not need to travel during the offer period. You can travel anytime, up to 12 months in advance, which is how far Heathrow Express’ booking window extends.

Note that only certain ticket types are included in the offer – and only those bought online or in the app. You will not receive the bonus points if you use an in-station ticket machine or tap in and out with your Oyster or contactless card.

The following tickets are included:

  • Anytime Single Express Class ticket
  • Anytime Single in Business First Class ticket
  • Anytime Return in in Express Class ticket
  • Anytime Return in Business First Class ticket

Unfortunately, the bulk-discount carnet packages, with 12 single journeys, are not included.

You can see the full terms and conditions here.

You can book on the Heathrow Express website here.

So this is essentially 625 Avios points for a single express ticket? That’s a great deal! We stayed near LHR at the Marriott and used Heathrow Express to get to an event in London. The Hotel offered WeKnowLondon electric cars as a shuttle to the airport which was a fab setup as cheaper than staying in central London.

For the anytime ‘flexible’ ticket. You won’t get it on a £5 advance fare!

This is quite good actually as just booked an October trip from Heathrow. It is interesting the negative press HEx are getting in the media as each time I use them the trains are really busy and we usually only pay around £10-£15 online. Surely the Elizabeth Line is killing the Piccadilly Line and only bruising HEx.

    • Track says:

      HEX trains are not empty.

Piccadilly Line is as busy as ever. Especially within 1-3 zones, I say.

Elizabeth Line is busy in the rush our/mornings people say.

Often use HEX for work purposes and view it as more of a ‘business class’ product when comparing to alternative options. There’s been a lot of talk with the Elizabeth line opening and both products being scrutinised, especially with the tube being a seemingly cheaper alternative. Both have their pro’s and con’s but if you plan ahead you will often find fares lower than the tube, quieter trains and a place to charge your phone or whatever. Admittedly, I did travel on the tube a little while ago as I wanted to check out the difference. Nice trains, although I had to stand in both directions as no seats and didn’t really want to sit on the floor with my laptop. The HEX will still be my first option as in my view it is a superior product at, usually, a similar fare. Still, it’s good to have options for different types of travellers; I just opt for a seat with a bit of peace and quiet and room to move!

I assume you are referring to the Elizabeth line as the tube? Because what you describe above doesn’t sound like the Piccadilly line?

      • Lloyd says:

You mean you aren’t keen on the 1973 stock on the Piccadilly Line? I find the distinct scent of metal, oil and sweat quite comforting. The purple line is much the opposite, however! I liked the ‘new car’ smell. I wonder how long that will last?

The best way for more than 25% saving is Piccadilly line 🙂
