Good ‘airport parking and hotel stay’ deals via little-known IHG link

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Most people are aware that – if you need airport parking whilst you are on holiday – it is often cheaper to book a nearby hotel which offers a ‘free parking’ package and stay there the night before.  Companies such as Holiday Extras specialise in arranging these.

IHG, the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza group, also has a pan-European ‘Park, Stay & Go’ offer.  It does not always come up when you search local hotels from the main IHG website.  You need to book via this dedicated link.

In the UK, the offer covers pretty much every major airport – this is not a London-centric deal by any means.

Cheap airport parking Holiday Inn Express Glasgow Airport

As a test, I looked at Glasgow Airport.  I was looking for a hotel stay for one night on Saturday 16th March 2024 with up to eight days of car parking included.

The Holiday Inn Express (website here) was offering this deal.  The prices were:

  • Room-only for 16th March: £106, assuming you are an IHG One Rewards member
  • Room with four days of parking: £134
  • Room with eight days of parking: £149
  • Room with 15 days of parking: £189

The room-only rate is refundable for a fair comparison, because the parking deals are all refundable.

With this property, you do not leave your car at the hotel.  You check in and are given a pass for a nearby long stay car park which has a free shuttle bus to get you back to the hotel.

With the Holiday Inn Express 15 day package, your parking effectively costs you £5.50 per day over and above the standard cost of the hotel.

Some of these packages are also available via the main ihg.com website.  If you are specifically looking for hotels which offer parking packages, however, it is more convenient to check the ‘Park, Stay & Go’ site here.

PS.  It is also worth looking at JustPark and Your Parking Space for sneaky parking options near major airports, often on private drives or nearby office or hotel car parks

    No option for LHR T4

    • Thegasman says:

I’ve seen T4 HIE & CP multiple times when booking these packages over past 2 years.

The disappointment for me is P, S & G is only offered for the T2/3 HI & not Staybridge Suites. I’ve contacted hotel a couple of times asking if they would negotiate a package staying at SS but they won’t play ball beyond quoting the standard £16/day.

8 days parking at Glasgow starting 16th March: £51 long stay with shuttle, £89 short stay opposite terminal with money off via cash back.

I find the “sometimes” cheaper to be rarely cheaper outside of London. Albeit on a very limited sample size.

  • Tim says:

I tried to book for Heathrow via this site a couple of weeks ago and kept getting a message saying no hotels met my requirements, even when I then tried some test bookings for random dates. When back to the app and some options did appear Just tried again and getting the same issue, compounded by only the Bath Road Holiday Inn offering just an 11-day parking package for a 3-night trip. I was wondering if IHG were still in the park and fly game.

  • Paul says:

This is all well and good but once you add the cost of 4 on the hoppa at Heathrow the overall price soars. Yes you can use some TFL buses but the 430 early morning often leaves large numbers of people behind from the Hyatt point onwards. Central area buses are more frequent.
Recently I have been getting dropped off at T5 long stay to avoid the the latest Heathrow rip off fee and, even with bags, surprisingly convenient!

    • Thegasman says:

I’d be interested to know if you can actually get dropped off/picked up from the Business parking to avail of the higher frequency minibuses. Most car parks will allow you to leave for free within 5 or 10 minutes.

      • jjoohhnn says:

Long Stay free pickup/drop off is an official feature with 30mins free parking. Not sure if you can do anything in business parking. Presumably they will let you exit without charge if you went to the wrong place by accident?! The business car parks only have a daily rate for drive up though rather than shorter periods for Long Stay.

Gatwick…free easy parking in Crawley £2 bus fare both ways.

  • NorthernLass says:

I’m just getting the ordinary booking page or the “no hotels” message when I use the link. I’ve previously booked park and stay by selecting the “packages” option on the hotel page, which then shows if there any of these available.

  • Robert Deller says:

The downside of hotel parking packages is that you are not guaranteed a parking place, so if you arrive and the hotel is also hosting a conference or wedding and the place is heaving you may struggle to park your car. This happened to us and the Reception staff just said there was nothing they could do. After about half an hour of driving round and round we did find a space but then almost got into a fight with another person trying to access the same space. We almost missed our flight I will not repeat the experience, (the nights stay was at the end of the holiday).

  • Patrick says:

Hilton used to do it at their airport locations a few years back… I remember that the car park was onsite and they were flexible as to whether the night can be used at the beginning or end of the car park (useful if coming back on a late flight).
This was pre-covid so can’t say if this got enhanced

    • NorthernLass says:

The MAN DT still does this but prices are astronomical, the actual airport car parks which can be nearer the terminals are better value atm.
