Good ‘airport parking and hotel stay’ deals via little-known IHG link

  Pre-Covid I witnessed several times the frustration of hotel guests at the Hampton by Hilton and Crowne Plaza/HIX at Aberdeen airport when they couldn’t find a parking space because the hotels’ car parks were overflowing with ‘stay, park and fly’ customers.

    How could the guests tell which parked cars were there for that and which weren’t?

      It was common common knowledge that the hotels mentioned had problems with car parking because so many were parked there long-term…I think it was even a story in the local newspaper.

    HIX Southend (right at the edge of the airport) was particularly bad for this.

    You’d arrive at 7pm after a working day to check in and even the illegal spaces in the car park were full. And very, very few other parking spaces anywhere near the hotel. Doesn’t matter if hotel has low occupancy car park always full. No spaces held for guests.

  As mentioned in the article, it can be quite a lot cheaper using Just Park or Your Parking Space. We have made a parking reservation in Ealing next year (as daughter is currently living there) for 23 nights which cost us £75 (approx. £3.20 per day). Cost of a Premier Inn room was around £80 (refundable rate), and a short walk to Ealing Broadway station to use the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow.

  I don’t agree that cheapest is best

  As a regular user of Glasgow airport I believe the option IHG use are with sky port or similar, but booking them separately can sometimes work out the cheapest. The problem with this combo is if you go to the hotel first you have to drive your car to the carpark and if you go to the car park first you have to get your luggage back to the hotel on the bus. So before and after your trip you have to deal with the bus.

  I currently have my car at Glasgow airport and for their pricing for 13 days was

  Car park 1 with valet parking was £91
  Car park 2 was £131
  And long stay was £59

  Glasgow airport did have a deal on the valet parking and that is right next to IHG holiday inn and car park 2 is opposite the terminal.

  So my advice is always play around with the options available to you. Just my thoughts!

  Got LGW official long stay for £9 per day for June next year. Can’t really complain

  I’ve got stay and park for 15 nights next summer at LGW for £172 at the HI. Room only was £115 so this feels reasonable. Also, all the rooms were the same price (cash or points), so we’ve got 2 premium rooms with stocked mini bar for the same price as standard ones, not sure if this is an intern rate at IHG or what!
