British Airways launches a very generous Uber / Avios offer

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

BA emailed a lot of people on Thursday with details of a very generous Uber offer.

You will earn 500 bonus Avios for every UK (and only UK) Uber trip you take in November, up to a maximum of 4,000 Avios. This is on top of your base Avios of 1 Avios per £1 spent.

This is a very decent rebate if you taking low cost UberX trips. The T&C also imply that the bonus will be triggered if you book train tickets or hire Lime bikes via the Uber app, which offers some interesting opportunities to those with creative minds ….

Avios Uber points bonus

The email does not say that the offer is targeted to recipients, although of course it could be. It does say ‘This offer is non-transferable’. (EDIT: It IS targeted as it seems other variants are out there.)

Full details of the Avios / Uber partnership can be found in this article. The ba.com / Uber webpage is here.

Irrespective of whether this offer is open to all or not, you would be crazy not to link your BA and Uber accounts if you are an occasional UK Uber user. The ‘1 Avios per £1’ Avios post instantly – literally within minutes of completing your ride. Bonus Avios from this promotion will NOT post instantly but will appear within 30 days.

  • Andrew J says:

As discussed on the Forum yesterday – the Uber offer is targeted with different variations of the offer being sent out by email, and some receiving nothing. My offer is:
“For the next 4 weeks, collect 5 Avios per £1 spent on every Uber Premium (Exec and Lux) and Reserve trip, plus 10 Avios per £1 spent on every Uber Travel booking through 30 November 2023”
Seems there is no cap on mine but that it’s less generous per booking and Uber X isn’t included.

    • Aston100 says:

      Mine is:
“For the next 4 weeks, collect 1,000 Avios on every Premium (Exec and Lux), Reserve, and Uber Travel booking. Plus, collect 500 bonus Avios on all other ride types*, up to a maximum of 6,000 bonus Avios through 30 November 2023!”

    • Tom says:

Got the same offer as Andrew J. Annoying as I’m sat in an Uber Comfort on the way to LHR when I noticed this! It is also for Uber trips in the UK only sadly, but suppose it’s not a massive loss given I’m flying to Hong Kong for the next two and a half weeks (CX, not BA, I’m not some sort of masochist).

  • pigeon says:

Boston probably targeted at the university parents visiting their kids.

However economy is so empty, you may as well buy basic economy and get a whole row flat bed.

  • James says:

I got 500 avios per Uber ride offer but it is only premium rides.

    • Andrew J says:

So that’s at least 4 different targeted versions then.

      • Charlie says:

I have the same offer as Rob, 500 avios per ride, up to 4000.

I think I can achieve the max doing just 8 short line scooter/bike rides, for less than a tenner in total.

  • Rich says:

Thanks to the British Airways Executive Club and Uber, you’re already collecting Avios on every ride. Through 30 November 2023, £1 = 5 Avios on your everyday rides, as well as on trains, coaches and Eurostar.

  • Michael Pawley says:

Mine is different again and covers any Uber spend – The 5x bonus Avios available to be awarded as part of this offer can only be applied to a BAEC account once, and the maximum amount which can be awarded per individual as part of this offer is 4000 bonus Avios. This offer is valid for booking any Uber trip in mainland UK and Northern Ireland. Eligible Uber Ride categories are UberX, UberXL, Uber Assist, Uber Access, Uber Comfort, Uber Exec, Uber Lux, Uber Reserve, Uber Pet, Uber Green, Uber Boat, Lime e-bikes and scooters, Local Cab, Coach, Rail and Eurostar.

  • Frankie says:

I got “ Collect 5 Avios per £1 spent on your trips through 30 November with Uber”

  • johnny_c-l says:

5x Avios per £1 on all rides this month is the version I have.

  • KenC says:

The payment of Avios is very hit and miss with Uber. I am signed up to the 1 Avios per £1 spent on rides and train journeys. Sometimes the correct Avios is paid immediately. However, frequently it is either not paid at all or at a vastly reduced rate. For example, I spent £9 on a train journey but got 2 Avios instead of 9. On two further trips I got nothing at all. I emailed them and the missing Avios were supplied on 2 Nov. However, on 3 Nov I bought a train ticket through the Uber app for £7. I was given 1 Avios. As I’ve been targeted for the 5 Avios per £1 offer, I should have 35 (although I understand from the article above that I’ll get 7 instantly and a further 28 within 30 days). I know we are talking about small sums but, nonetheless, if Avios are offered then they must be paid. As it is, I’ll now have to chase them up yet again. Be warned!
