Hilton has announced that the Columbus Hotel in Monte Carlo, once part owned by racing driver David Coulthard, is to join the Curio Collection brand.

The hotel will be known as Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo, Curio Collection by Hilton. As Curio is a ‘soft brand’, aimed at independent hotels which want to tap in to the Hilton ‘system’ and loyalty base, very little work will be required.

The press release talks of the rebrand completing by ‘the end of the year’. The Hilton website says it ‘opens’ (ie rebrands) on 30th November but isn’t taking bookings via Hilton yet.

It’s time for Cas Vegas and Ponte Carlo!

Destination dupe article definitely has a “first of April” feel about it 😂

Expedia isn’t interested in whether the content is true – the only thing that matters is getting attention. So it worked perfectly for both Expedia and HfP – Expedia gets a mention on sites such as HfP, and HfP gets lots of reader comments. Win-win!

Having just returned from Nashville and Memphis, I can assure you that they are completely different.

Quebec for Geneva is odd for a non-North American.

Having just returned from both Taipei and Seoul, I can confirm that Taipei is cheaper, but I’d pay the extra to stay in Seoul any day.

    • Boi says:

Is Seoul worth visiting with teenagers? We are doing Bangkok and Japan in the spring and debating whether to pass by Seoul or Singapore. Which would you choose?

Or if the Thai experts are here is it worth going somewhere else in Thailand for 3 days?
We have flights booked to Bangkok and back from Japan …… 21 day trip.

You could easily spend 21 days in Japan. I’d visit Okinawa. Some parts of Naha do feel like Taipei.

      • MC says:

I’d be tempted to spend the extra 3 days in Thailand, visiting Chiang Mai or somewhere else. You will incur considerable expense visiting Singapore (or Seoul) for just 3 days. However if you do want to visit, I’d say Singapore is unlike anywhere else (a v Westernised form of Asia) and you could easily spend 2-3 days there. You’d have to fly away from BKK tho so I’m unsure if it makes sense.
Seoul feels similar to Japan, but different (obviously). You could spend 3 days here, but again, I think spending the extra days in Thailand or Japan.

Am also in Columbus on BA free helicopter transfer deal. Hotel is excellent – have been upgraded to suite with sea view. Breakfast is good. Location excellent for exploring Monaco. Marina and restaurants within 5 mins walk of hotel.

I would think a mattress run would work without visiting in hotels that let you get a digital key but it would still be risky as sometimes a digital key isn’t available. Has anyone tried it?
