Hilton Honors has just launched its new Spring 2024 promotion, Points Pluswhich is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

  • you will earn 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every stay completed between 1st January and 1st May 2024
  • you will receive an extra 500 bonus points if you select a Digital Key to use via your smartphone
  • that’s it!

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  The bonus will trigger on reward stays too.

What is your return here?

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.

For someone who only does one night stays, you would be earning 2,000 bonus points per nightI would value that at £6.66 which is a decent result especially as it doesn’t include your base points or any status bonus.

Of course, if your only Hilton stays during the four months are five nights long, you are not doing too well.  Your bonus will average 400 points per night (2,000/5) which I’d value at £1.33 per night.

The 500 points for using a Digital Key are worth so little (£1.70ish) that I wouldn’t go out of your way to request one if you find it too fiddly. I tend not to bother. (EDIT: it seems that you only need to request the Digital Key in the app but there is no need to use it, so on that basis you might as well bag the 500 points!)

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

  • there is no minimum stay requirement
  • existing bookings still count
  • all Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

Conclusion

2,000 bonus points per stay is a decent offer for someone who tends to do short stays.

If your hotel stays are generally just for one or two nights at lower cost brands then you may want to consider moving them to Hilton over the next few months.

Make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 1st May.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (April 2025)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

We reviewed the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card here and the Hilton Honors Debit Card here.

You can apply for either card here.

  • PaulC says:

I’ve asked a few times now but had no response.

Is the 20% off weekend stays Hilton’s Winter sale for Europe, Middle East and Asia, it’s usually better than that?

    • Tony says:

I suspect Hilton (along with most brands) doesn’t need to offer better incentives at the moment. Prices are high and holding up so there’s no need to offer better sale prices to drive bookings.

      • Josh says:

Yes. That is the unfortunate truth for travellers. The big hotel chains have record profits so no need to incentive. Also, I believe that private home rental market as competitor to hotels has lost steam (regulations and other issues)

        • Gordon says:

Not in Florida, it’s the the land of the villa, I saved around 50% 3 weeks ago, villa vs hotel!

    • BJ says:

In any case so-called hotel sales often have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

    • Ian says:

It isn’t just weekends. On stays that I have it applies all days of the week.

    • PaulC says:

That’s a shame, I always book a back up via a third party that I can cancel when the Hilton sale goes live.

Looks like we will be using our back up booking with Travel Republic but will miss out on points and any upgrades.
Paid £3,606 for 15 nights in DT Dubai M Square in a 2 bed apartment including Breakfast (4 Adults and an Infant)
Hilton Sale wants £5,300 for the same using status for free breakfast!

      • BBbetter says:

That’s not a like for like comparison. What’s the rate currently with the OTA?

        • PaulC says:

Fair point but year on year I’ve always beaten my pre-booked hotel in the Hilton Winter sale.

Current price with TR like for like including breakfast comes in at £5,861

Clearly the market has changed since I booked it

          • Scott says:

If you’ve “always” beaten the price then why have you bothered pre-booking at all, rather than just wait for the sale?

  • Kowalski says:

Regarding reward stays, the FAQ page on the Hilton website for this promo says:

“Will I earn Bonus Points for Reward Stays with the “Points Plus” promotion?

Yes, as long as a member earned Base Points as part of the Reward Stay, members will earn Bonus Points based on their number of Base Points earned.”

So for a reward stay to trigger the bonus, the member must spend something at the hotel to earn at least 1 base point? I don’t understand the 2nd part of the answer though, “members will earn Bonus Points based on their number of Base Points earned”.

    • BJ says:

On reward stays you get base points on any eligible spend plus any applicable elite bonuses based on nase earnings. There is nothing remarkable about that. The MyWay onus points are also available on reward stays if selected but most Go,ds sekect breakfast, Diamond get both bonus points and breakfast.

      • Kowalski says:

So they’re referring to elite bonus points, not the bonus points from this offer? Seems off topic for them to be talking about Elite Bonus points in an FAQ section for the Points Plus promotion.

  • Ian says:

    Pretty weak offer imho

    Far weaker than previous years.

    • Qrfan says:

Coming off the back of the 2x/3x offer than bagged me 6 figure points on two stays, I can only agree. This last quarter was a bonanza. 2000 points doesn’t move the needle.

  • Rj-24 says:

I tried the digital key recently. It was a poor experience. The key wouldn’t activate at the room, but did keep opening the gym which was on the same floor. Pretty frustrating at midnight after a long drive. And not with 500 points

    • Mr Benjamin Murphy-Ryan says:

You can still also go to reception and get a normal key – as a backup

  • BJ says:

Sorry, misunderstood. Yes, at Hilton you will get these offer bonus points on reward stays, not just cash stays. You will also get them on part pay with points and cash.

  • Graeme says:

It’s worthwhile requesting the Digital Key even if you don’t plan to use it.

The promo T+C make clear it’s the Digital Key being delivered to the Hilton app that triggers the bonus – there’s no requirement to use the key.

    • Ryan says:

      Absolutely spot on.

I fail to see why 500 points is weak for simply requesting a digital key.

Simply check in on line via the app, and collect the keycard at reception if that’s your thing.

      • daveinitalia says:

Even if you check in at reception and receive a physical key you can still receive a digital key in the app at any time during your stay (if the hotel offers them). If you don’t want to use it you can get the 500 points from the comfort of your hotel bed. Just request the key in the app and when it arrives use it once to unlock your room door (just in case it needs some sort of activity to trigger)

        It’s an easy 500 points

  • Julia says:

It’s a good offer for short stays but for long stayers it isn’t really ringing any bells. C’mon hotel chains keep up. Digital nomads need properties for months at a time, share the love with us too.

    • daveinitalia says:

If you’re staying somewhere with a number of properties then switch regularly

      • Julia says:

We do. Hilton don’t have any split hotels in the UAE where you can just walk from one hotel into another of the same brand.

        • Phil says:

They absolutely do. Try Hilton Jumeirah and Hilton The Walk. They’re connected both at street level (immediately opposite) and at M level (Jumeirah) to LP level (The Walk).

  • Nick G says:

After using Emyr I’m now more convinced than ever that when it comes to a WA/Conrad that impresario rate with double points and added value extras is the way to go rather than sale rates

    • daveinitalia says:

I agree, I’ve only used Emyr a few times as most of the places I go don’t have Conrad/WA and often when they have I’m using points. But for a cash fare the impresario rate is worth the little extra over a sale/advance purchase rate. He’s so quick at replying to requests it makes sense to give him a shout if booking something.
