Canopy by Hilton Seychelles

Seychelles

Canopy by Hilton Seychelles

Hilton is the latest brand to open a new hotel in the Seychelles, which is growing to rival some of the other Indian Ocean islands in terms of upscale resorts. This will be the first Canopy resort in the world – the brand has only offered city hotels so far – with 120 guest rooms on Anse à la Mouche beach, Mahé. There will be two restaurants, a couple of pools and, of course, access to the beach with its crystal clear waters. Opening early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island

Canopy isn’t the only brand to get a new property in the Seychelles …. Hilton will also be opening a Waldorf Astoria in the country. As befits the brand, this will be on a pristine atoll called Platte Island 130km south of Mahé with a collection of 50 ocean-front villas. You’ll need to take a small propeller plane to get here, although there’s a runway on the island. The resort seems like a must-visit for anyone into wildlife, with native Hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, manta rays and whale sharks. Opening early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Hampton by Hilton Old Street, London

United Kingdom

Hampton by Hilton Old Street, London

OK, it’s not the Seychelles, but we’re fans of Hilton’s Hampton brand. Any new centrally located Hampton is a welcome addition, particularly once the Old Street roundabout and station development completes early next year. Five minutes walk from the station, this Hampton will feature just 107 rooms and cater to both business and leisure travellers, with an Italian restaurant and 24 hour snack menu. As with all Hamptons, it will also offer free hot breakfast for all guests. Opening early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection

Croatia

Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection

The stratospheric rise in Croatia’s popularity continues with the introduction of Hilton’s first Curio Collection hotel in the country. A boutique property, it will offer 54 guest rooms and a rooftop pool and bar overlooking the town’s historic red-tiled roofs. The hotel is also just a two minute walk away from the Sea. Opens early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Conrad Orlando

USA

Conrad Orlando

Delayed from 2023, this new hotel is opening with 533 rooms, 51 of which will be suites. The hotel is at the heart of a billion dollar new resort development that features an eight-acre public lagoon with turquoise waters with 20 acres of tropical beach, plus two 18-hole golf courses. The whole development borders Walt Disney World, making it an excellent spot for families. Opens early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Anglo American Hotel Florence, Curio Collection by Hilton

Italy

Anglo American Hotel Florence, Curio Collection by Hilton

If you’re looking for a quiet stay in Florence, then this Curio Collection hotel may be for you. Located in quiet neighbourhood on the outskirts of the historic city centre, it is a ten minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella Station and 2km from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Ponte Vecchio, and Uffizi Gallery. Rooms feature neo-deco styling and there’s alfresco dining in the hotel courtyard. Opens Summer 2024. The hotel website is here.

Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton

Portugal

Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton

The first of three new Hilton properties in Lisbon, the Duo Hotel is a conversion of a traditional 19th Century building linked to a modern, secondary extension. The hotel is relatively small, with just 75 rooms. A landscaped interior courtyard connects the two buildings and hosts alfresco dining in the evenings, whilst a Portuguese pasteleria will get you started in the mornings. Opens Spring 2024. It isn’t showing yet on hilton.com.

(Readers also flagged Legacy Hotel Cascais, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. This is due to open in May.)

Conrad Singapore Orchard

Singapore

Conrad Singapore Orchard

Hilton will open its second Conrad hotel in Singapore with the rebranding and refurbishment of the former iconic Regent Hotel. This large development was designed by John C Portman Jr in the early 80s and features an architenctural atrium that has been sensitively refurbished. The hotel features 445 guest rooms including 46 suites as well as a collection of bars and a Michelin-restaurant. Opens January 2024. The hotel website is here.

Hilton Kathmandu

Nepal

Hilton Kathmandu

Anyone off on an adventure to the Himalayas will want to stay at the Hilton Kathmandu, situated in the heart of the Kathmandu Valley. This is a modern, new-build hotel just ten minutes from the airport and with views across the city and a rooftop pool. With 173 guest rooms, the hotel fuses modern architecture with unique, locally-inspired features and detailing. Opens early 2024. The hotel website is here.

Bermudiana Beach Resort, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Hilton’s new Bermudiana Beach Resort is finally slated to open in the third quarter of 2024. This 111-room resort is located at the top of a cliff with a funicular down to pristine pink coral sand of Marley Beach. Two pools, a clifftop bar and an outdoor events lawn complete the offering. Happy New Year all! Pedant that I am, “You can see our roundup of new Hilton openings for 2023 here” – 2024 maybe? I’ll be clicking the HfP link nonetheless 😉

    • rob(staaaar) says:

Ok, I ballsed-up; it WAS 2023 new openings. Tail is between legs…

  • BBbetter says:

All these canopies, curios and tapestries- are they not good enough to be Hiltons or doubletrees?

  • Eoc says:

30 Euros a night to park at the Croatian hotel. How to not win friends and influence people 🙄

  • Ian says:

If looking at the Conrad in Orlando, maybe opt for 90k points rather than the $1,000 a night for basic rooms. Plus you also avoid the $50 per day resort charge.

The cost does come down to $700 per night in the summer.

    Not a cheap hotel!

    • r* says:

Also the USA badly needs to get these scam resort fees under control. I wonder if that includes the $10 breakfast voucher lol.

    • The Savage Squirrel says:

Somebody must pay it, but the rental villa vs hotel markets have always been seriously out of line in Orlando – particularly as families will be the bulk of the market. No idea if it’s just a case of relative over and under supply. You can get an enormous resort level villa (gated community with own pool, games room + access to resort level pool, gym, restaurant, golf, etc) that sleeps 10+, is furnished to an extremely high standard for half that. Or you, partner and 2 kids can squeeze into 2 double beds in one room for well north of $500/night and $1000 at the high end. In a fair comparison the kids would have their own room so we’re now talking 2 rooms, so sub $400 vs $2000!

I love hotel points as much as anyone, but even points are poor value here. Orlando is the land of the rental villa.

      • Gordon says:

Agree, I rented a villa when we took our granddaughters to Disney in November and saved a fortune, had to pay for parking at the lower option of $30 a day, can park slightly nearer to parks for $50.(Just increased). But still worth it for the saving.
When we took the monorail from entrance to the parks, you pass over the onsite hotels, and they are actually carrying out a lot of development for new onsite hotels, so they are still in demand. As you say, Orlando is the land of the rental villa!

        • Tomas says:

$55 for premium parking now, but I think it’s well worth it to avoid the crush on the tram at the end of the day; after the crush on the monorail. After the 2hr wait in an actual queue for Tron; after a 6hr virtual queue.

          • Gordon says:

I was quite surprised that there were no queues to get out of the car parks at the end of the day, but the car parks and exit roads are massive, the only wait we had for the monorail was after the fireworks at magic kingdom one evening, that was around 30 mins,
Re the waits, we were ok as we had a DAS pass for our granddaughter, so we used the Lightning lanes bypassing all the queues every day, we did get some jealous stares! Tron is an awesome ride, but very popular as it was only opened in March this year. Universal was a different system, but still ok for bypassing the queues 😊

  • Reney says:

typo: old street roundaboout – too many ‘o’s. See second sentence in that section.

  • Ali M says:

Isnt the Conrad Orlando a refurb rather than new?

  • Nick G says:

Was expecting Legacy hotel, Cascais to be on the list surprised it’s not. Been on my radar for a while.

Oh well happy new year Rob and team!

    • Nick says:

Thanks for the tip! Was planning on staying at the Interconti (again) this year but might look into this..

      • Nick G says:

It’s a curio so should be decent. The opening date has been put back several times, should have opened in 2023 but now finally taking reservations from May! I’ll be interested to know any feedback especially on the pool area as artist impressions sometimes are misleading in terms of actual size.

        • Blair Waldorf Salad says:

I have the Legacy Cascais booked for one night (Fri 24 May) before moving to IC Estoril for the AMB free night. I have little confidence the Legacy will open to schedule so have booked it on a credit card and have Sheraton Cascais booked the same night as a backup. I’m once bitten twice shy after IC Rome tried to shirk me off 3 weeks before my arrival last year.

  • NorthernLass says:

There’s a Curio underway in GCM, ground was broken in 2019! We’ll check out progress in June unless Rob knows anything …
