Goodbye banana bread – British Airways introduces new snacks on Euro Traveller flights

Well, that didn’t last long. No sooner had British Airways introduced banana bread and flapjack snacks in Euro Traveller (short haul economy) than they have disappeared.

This is a shame, as I’m sure some people were collecting them in order to stick them together and make a whole one 🙂

If you missed our (potentially) award winning review of the Euro Traveller flapjack and banana bread, it’s here.

What are the new Euro Traveller snacks?

This is what you will now get, assuming the new stock has filtered through to all flights.

Breakfast:

  • Raspberry & Sultana Bite, or
  • McVitie’s Digestive (not sure how many!)

Rest of the day (Bands 0-2):

  • Fox’s Rocky Bar, or
  • Graze Smokey Barbeque Crunch

Rest of the day (Band 3):

  • Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookie, or
  • Jacobs Crinklys

Rest of the day (Band 4):

  • A ‘help yourself’ box of six different sweet and savoury snacks will be passed down the cabin

Early feedback is that crew seem quite relaxed on Band 4 flights if you help yourself to a couple of items, but I’m sure a clampdown will be ordered soon! On the downside, apparently the Smokey Barbeque Crunch is very smelly and the cabin is not a pleasant place afterwards ….

This is arguably a minor improvement on the flapjack / banana bread – you now get a sweet or savoury option – and, before that, the mini pack of pretzels.

Hat-tip to blurt91 on Flyertalk from whom I stole the joke in the 2nd paragraph!

To be fair that joke is well worth stealing

  • Mr T says:

I’ve just enjoyed a 2 pack of McVities Digestives on a LHR to MXP flight. It does need tea though.

  • AL says:

Yesterday, domestic, at about 4pm, they were serving a hodge-podge of snacks: pretzels, a digestive, or those smokey barbecue things. Feels like the regions either don’t know what’s going on (quelle surprise) or they’re trying to purposefully use up stock. But I’m banking on the former.

  • cin3 says:

Yuck. More trashy branded sugar-filled junk.

    • meta says:

Well this is the case for all British supermarkets (even Waitrose is full of junk), so they are just being ‘British’.

  • TW says:

I have recently enjoyed a Queensland Choc cookie on board, what an amazing product. Very tasty – obviously airline’s are improving the quality of their snacks!

    • BLF says:

Yes, they are an excellent product! Think they are under the Marybake brand which is manufactured by Queensland Bakery. Good size and definitely an improvement

  • broomy23 says:

Must say, I’ll miss the flapjack. The banana bread was ok. I think BA need promote Buy On Board more though. I’m happy to pay for food if it makes the fare cheaper as I just eat at the terminal. Pret and Itsu are personal favourites

  • Camille55 says:

Had menu cards handed out at in CE the other night from BER, with 2 x light cold-meal options. Later, they handed out Aldi branded “Rocky” slightly bigger than fun size chocolates as a snack. Wasn’t bad tbf.

  • Bryan Brownlie says:

On the 07.00 ex GLA to LGW yesterday (8th) Fox’s Rocky Bar was served as a “breakfast” treat! So the bands are not consistent. Quelle surprise!
