Earn double Tesco Clubcard points (= Virgin Points) for six weeks

We don’t cover Tesco Clubcard much these days since the Avios partnership ended, but it does still partner with Virgin Flying Club.
1 Clubcard point converts into 2 Virgin Points, which is a better deal than using that point for a 1p shopping discount.
Tesco is running its first ‘double Clubcard points’ event in over a decade.

Until 25th February you will earn double Clubcard points (2 per £1, so 4 Virgin Points per £1) on all of your Tesco spending.
It is valid in-store, including the Tesco cafe, online and at Tesco petrol stations.
You will not receive double points from Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile, Tesco Photo, Esso Fuel, Evri, Waves, Inkjet, Halfords Motoring Club, Tesco surveys and international calling.
As usual, you won’t earn any points on non-qualifying products, including tobacco or tobacco-related products, lottery, stamps, prescription medicines, infant formula milk, gift cards, saving stamps, in-store concessions and some purchases of alcohol in Northern Ireland.
What interests me most about this offer is that, after a decade, Tesco seems to be exploring the merits of offering bonus points.
The chain used to be ambivalent between offering £1 off or giving 100 bonus Clubcard points, but we haven’t seen bonus points on specific products in-store for years. This was a mistake in my view, since some customers – including Virgin Points collectors – are more motivated by points than by cash savings.
