Why ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ is the silliest and coolest Hilton Honors redemption ever

I’m not sure what you were doing on Sunday afternoon, but it probably wasn’t as weird as sitting in a Hilton hotel bed built into the stands at Stamford Bridge, watching Chelsea FC Women.

That’s what I was doing, along with my son, as part of a media trip to highlight potentially the silliest but also coolest Hilton Honors redemption I’ve ever done.

You can do it too, for the upcoming Chelsea FC Women match against Arsenal on 17th March. You can bid to attend here.

Hilton Best Bed At The Bridge Stamford Bridge

As you can see above, it’s a hotel bed. In a hotel room. Built into a football stadium.

Here’s the view from below, taken pre-game hence the empty stands:

Below the bed is the Champions Club private suite which is where you will spend the rest of the game.

What does ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ get you?

This is what you get, for two people, if you bid for this experience over at the Hilton Experiences website.

You get a night at 100 Queen’s Gate, which is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. It’s a smart boutique hotel just a few minutes from the South Kensington museums.

I was offered a night here but I literally live 90 seconds away so it was a bit unnecessary! (Rhys is keen to review this hotel as it’s the only Curio in London he hasn’t done, so it will appear on HfP soon.)

A Mercedes will be waiting to drive you and your guest to Stamford Bridge, although the ground is also walkable if you’ve got half an hour.

After settling in to the hospitality suite (there were sofas too, just out of shot):

…. you get to head down to see both teams as they arrive at the ground:

Time for another quick drink in the suite, and then down to pitchside to see the players warming up:

When the game kicks off, you can grab a seat outside the box:

You will be allocated a 15 minute slot to watch the game from the bed, which is directly above the box:

(We were told to keep our shoes on, by the way!)

I recorded a short video which gives you a better idea of how it works which you can see in this LinkedIn post.

There was food provided in the box but I believe it will be different for the Hilton Honors redemption day in March, so I’m not showing any images. Hilton is promising a four course meal whilst we got a Hampton Inn-style late morning buffet breakfast due to the 12.30pm kick-off.

After the match a couple of the Chelsea FC Women players came up to the suite for a chat. Here’s my 12-year old towering over Sjoeke Nüsken:

We all received bag of Hilton / Chelsea FC merchandise on the way out too.

You can bid for this experience

‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ returns for the game against Arsenal on Sunday 17th March.

There are five packages up for auction, each for two people, with a minimum bid of just 100,000 Hilton Honors points. This includes one night in a South Kensington hotel, remember. Each package will include 15 minutes in the bed. Children are welcome.

Slightly frustratingly, you can only bid for this package with the hotel room included. If you live in London then you don’t necessarily need this, and it will pump up the cost of the winning bids. I mentioned this to the Hilton team and hopefully in future we can see a couple of packages with the hotel included and a couple without.

There are only four Chelsea FC Women’s league games per season at Stamford Bridge so opportunities to buy this experience will be limited. Arsenal on 17th March will be your last chance for the current season.

You can bid here. Bidding ends on 15th February.

Thank you to the Hilton team for the invitation.

  • Ryan says:

I wouldn’t get out of my own bed to watch Chelsea.

  • Willmo says:

What happens with the bed for the other games at Stamford Bridge?

I assume it is still physically there, does it go unused or is it sold / given out in a different way?

    • Rob says:

It is dismantled and put in storage until next time.

    • Kwab says:

Yes. That was going to be my question. If it’s sold for EPL games, the price must be eye watering!

  • Pb says:

100 Queensgate is ok set in a reasonable area , had a few rooms via the Covid offer highlighted on HFP , wouldn’t want to be paying their regular rates though .

    • Rob says:

Only £176 on 17 March – rates well down this year. Days of seeing Holiday Inn Express Wandsworth, overlooking the council dump, at £500 are hopefully gone.

  • paul says:

Is it open to the elements? – and copious amounts of half eaten food and drink cups to be thrown in from neighbouring seats?

    • Rob says:

Open but covered from rain as in stands. The upper tier by the bed isn’t sold for women’s games.

      • daveinitalia says:

When I saw this on Twitter I couldn’t understand the appeal of lying in an empty stand in a bed watching a football match. Isn’t the fun of being at a match being in with the crowds? It seems even more pointless if it’s just for 15 minutes, what happens if there’s a goal when you’re moving between bed and seat?

When I was at school I won (or probably technically my dad won, can’t remember if there was an age restriction on the competition) seats in the directors box at Newcastle United and it was great I can’t imagine temporary use of a bed enhancing the experience.

What was your son’s favourite part of the day?

        • Rob says:

He’s my son and so disproportionately keen on VIP lounges and the like 🙂 For me the pitchside walk was actually the most interesting thing.

  • supergers49 says:

Given his reputation, thank goodness John Terry isn’t the host!

  • Panda Mick says:

Stayed at 100QG a couple of years ago the night before The Royal Parks Half… I used none of the facilities, which was a shame given that, upon walking in, I instantly liked it (decor, ambience, etc). My room was at the back, oddly shaped, but very big. My only niggle was that it was astoundingly hot, and opening the window resulted in a lot of road noise. I’d go back: Really handy for Kensington, Hyde Park, etc

  • ianM says:

Please don’t ‘have a word with the Hilton team’ about including the hotel night, there are people who don’t live in London

    • Rob says:

The price will be inflated by the cost of the hotel though – you could get this experience and then book your own room. It’s not even the closest Hilton to the ground.

  • The Savage Squirrel says:

Heh, yes amusingly the featured bit – watching football in a bed – looks by far the worst bit of the whole package.

Actually the most important question is … you’ve mentioned before your son likes going to watch Arsenal. How did you persuade him to have the photo in Chelsea regalia? 😀

    • Rob says:

His school mates are obviously Chelsea fans, as he’s in a Knightsbridge school, so getting a few pics of himself on the pitch was an easy way to impress.
