Why ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ is the silliest and coolest Hilton Honors redemption ever

I’m not sure what you were doing on Sunday afternoon, but it probably wasn’t as weird as sitting in a Hilton hotel bed built into the stands at Stamford Bridge, watching Chelsea FC Women.

That’s what I was doing, along with my son, as part of a media trip to highlight potentially the silliest but also coolest Hilton Honors redemption I’ve ever done.

You can do it too, for the upcoming Chelsea FC Women match against Arsenal on 17th March. You can bid to attend here.

Hilton Best Bed At The Bridge Stamford Bridge

As you can see above, it’s a hotel bed. In a hotel room. Built into a football stadium.

Here’s the view from below, taken pre-game hence the empty stands:

Below the bed is the Champions Club private suite which is where you will spend the rest of the game.

What does ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ get you?

This is what you get, for two people, if you bid for this experience over at the Hilton Experiences website.

You get a night at 100 Queen’s Gate, which is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. It’s a smart boutique hotel just a few minutes from the South Kensington museums.

I was offered a night here but I literally live 90 seconds away so it was a bit unnecessary! (Rhys is keen to review this hotel as it’s the only Curio in London he hasn’t done, so it will appear on HfP soon.)

A Mercedes will be waiting to drive you and your guest to Stamford Bridge, although the ground is also walkable if you’ve got half an hour.

After settling in to the hospitality suite (there were sofas too, just out of shot):

…. you get to head down to see both teams as they arrive at the ground:

Time for another quick drink in the suite, and then down to pitchside to see the players warming up:

When the game kicks off, you can grab a seat outside the box:

You will be allocated a 15 minute slot to watch the game from the bed, which is directly above the box:

(We were told to keep our shoes on, by the way!)

I recorded a short video which gives you a better idea of how it works which you can see in this LinkedIn post.

There was food provided in the box but I believe it will be different for the Hilton Honors redemption day in March, so I’m not showing any images. Hilton is promising a four course meal whilst we got a Hampton Inn-style late morning buffet breakfast due to the 12.30pm kick-off.

After the match a couple of the Chelsea FC Women players came up to the suite for a chat. Here’s my 12-year old towering over Sjoeke Nüsken:

We all received bag of Hilton / Chelsea FC merchandise on the way out too.

You can bid for this experience

‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ returns for the game against Arsenal on Sunday 17th March.

There are five packages up for auction, each for two people, with a minimum bid of just 100,000 Hilton Honors points. This includes one night in a South Kensington hotel, remember. Each package will include 15 minutes in the bed. Children are welcome.

Slightly frustratingly, you can only bid for this package with the hotel room included. If you live in London then you don’t necessarily need this, and it will pump up the cost of the winning bids. I mentioned this to the Hilton team and hopefully in future we can see a couple of packages with the hotel included and a couple without.

There are only four Chelsea FC Women’s league games per season at Stamford Bridge so opportunities to buy this experience will be limited. Arsenal on 17th March will be your last chance for the current season.

You can bid here. Bidding ends on 15th February.

Thank you to the Hilton team for the invitation.

    Yawn! 😂

Don’t forget the Lincoln Plaza, still part of the Curio collection. Can you try and find out what is going on with that? Around a year ago rooms were briefly available for 2024 and I booked one and this time my booking never got cancelled (although they soon after stopped taking bookings). My booking was for last weekend. Online check-in opened. It let me pick a room. I decided to pop by on Friday just in case they had finally reopened but it was still closed and the windows looking rather dusty. There was no evidence of it being used for other purposes like asylum seekers.

The message saying the hotel is closed disappeared early January but it is appearing sold out like it did when it was officially closed.

    • Rhys says:

It’s closed, so until it re-opens (if it re-opens) I won’t be going!

      • daveinitalia says:

But do none of the people in Hilton know what’s happening with it? Seems odd my booking never got cancelled like the previous ones did. It now shows up in my stays history although I got zero credit for it.

      • Milos says:

Rob – what’s the deal with all the (IHG) hotels that appear on the website but unavailable to book? (e.g. Crowne Plaza Kingston)

    • Michael C says:

I just looked yesterday at the calendar to book for Feb – it’s “open” now, but with every day saying “sold out” – i.e. not open!

  • ankomonkey says:

I was at Sunday’s game with my kids in the West Stand opposite the bed. To me it actually looks like getting pitchside during the warm-up and having a player visit the suite after the match are the most attractive parts of the package. And having seen the (small) size and price of the in-stadium food, the 100k Honors points could turn out to be a bargain 😉

  • babyg_wc says:

silliest = yes, and coolest = no, the 15 min thing just makes it too gimmicky, but i guess thats the point, to get more likes on the gram if they cycle people through. I feel the Hilton at old Trafford is a much better experience, you get a bed on the “pitch” (you can watch the cricket from your bed in your room if you want), private balcony, and dont look like such a twit. IMHO the coolest is probably the hilton at silverstone… this feels a little naff…

    • daveinitalia says:

I was told that all the rooms with the trackside view in Silverstone were used as events rooms during the British Grand Prix so no watching the F1 from your bed. I still think it would be really great to stay there though but I imagine what rooms they have available sell out really quickly

      • The real Swiss Tony says:

I stayed at the Hilton at the Ageas (sp?) Bowl near Southampton for some T20 county cricket. It made for a fun enough afternoon out – and you can nip to M&S before hand and create an extravagant buffet. Some of our neighbours had really gone to town!

        • daveinitalia says:

I’ve stayed there before but not when there was any cricket on. It was still nice to order a bottle of wine and relax on the balcony as the evening goes on. This was back in 2019 and I thought it would be nice to stay there when there’s a match on but covid happened

The hotel used to have a nice lounge but I believe that was a covid casualty

  • ADS says:

the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill used to have double beds at the back of the screen … but they seem to have moved them to the front now!

  • lumma says:

Is half the pitch not visible from the bed or is that just the photo that makes it look like that?

    • Rob says:

You can see it all but you need to sit forward.

      • daveinitalia says:

So the bed was definitely a gimmick, maybe they should have let people cycle through it either before or after the match to get their pictures on Instagram then if anyone wants to watch the match from there they could pick at random for each half so you don’t risk missing anything when going between the bed and your seat

  • Chris W says:

If the bed was covered with glass, maybe a oneway mirror so people couldn’t look in, maybe.

    Otherwise, this looks horrendous

    • Rob says:

People can’t really look in. They weren’t selling the seats behind or to the side of the bed, and from the other side of the stadium you are the tiniest of tiny specks.

  • Rob H not Rob says:

    Horrendous.
