Another UK Hilton hotel adds a pool charge

As we’ve covered in other articles recently, there seems to be a co-ordinated move by many Hilton hotels in the UK to add charges for their swimming pools.
We recently called out Hilton Nottingham which added a fee from 1st February. Hilton Glasgow is amongst others to have jumped in over the last 12 months.
A reader flagged up that Hilton Puckrup Hall in Tewkesbury added a charge from 1st January. This covers the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room.
The hotel has also instigated advanced booking for these facilities, so you can’t even turn up when you feel like it.
Arguably this is a better deal than some hotels which have added charges. You pay £5 per adult and £2.50 per child, although our reader said that Diamond and Gold members of Hilton Honors are exempt. (The exemption is not mentioned on the hotel website and it isn’t clear if it applies to the elite member or their entire family.)
However, this is a ‘resort’ property – not a city centre business hotel – and, frankly, you would expect the pool, sauna etc to be included. This is, after all, a key reason why people visit such hotels. The hotel even says that ‘pool slots are subject to availability’.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (April 2025)
There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards. Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.
There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.
You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

SPECIAL OFFER: Until 30th April 2025, the annual fee on the basic Hilton Honors debit card is halved from £60 to £30. There is another way of getting Hilton Honors status, and earning Hilton Honors points, from a payment card.
Holders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive FREE Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as they hold the card. It also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Radisson Rewards Premium and MeliaRewards Gold status.
