Hilton Glasgow hotel charging £10 to use its swimming pool

Long-term readers will remember how the InterContinental London O2 hotel tried to bring in a £30 per person fee (£15 for children) to use its swimming pool in April 2022.
A reader tipped us off, we wrote about it, we passed the story to a couple of national newspapers who also wrote about it and, in the face of all the publicity, the charge was dropped.
Hilton Glasgow is now trying a similar trick, albeit at a lower price level.
As of today, there will be a £10 per person charge to use the hotel pool. A family will pay £20. You receive a 90 minute slot, and all slots must be booked in advance. No walk ups will be allowed.
The hotel gym will remain free to all guests although the message above implies that you won’t get access to the changing rooms as you must arrive ‘gym ready’.
Given that this hotel is relatively cheap (sub £100 at times), an additional £20 hit for a couple to use the pool is pushing it.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.
