American Express has brought back the generous Amex Dining offer which ran twice in 2024.

From now until 31st March 2025, you will receive 20% cashback at 500+ participating UK restaurants when you pay with The Platinum Card.

Holders of American Express Preferred Rewards Gold are NOT included this time but will receive the standard 10% cashback, as will holders of other non-cobrand Amex cards.

Click here for more details on this promo page of the amexdining.com website. Registration is required.

You can learn more about the benefits of The Platinum Card from American Express in this article.

Amex Dining offer

What cards are taking part?

Only Platinum and Centurion cards are included, looking at the small print.

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold, American Express Rewards Credit Card holders and Amex Cashback cardholders are not included in the 20% deal but have the regular promotional cashback rate of 10%.

Co-brand cards (BA, Marriott, Nectar, Harrods etc) are not included.

Amex Business cardholders are included at the standard 10% cashback level.

How do you earn the cashback?

You must register for this offer before dining. Assuming there is no targeting, it will show in the ‘Offers’ tab of your American Express Platinum card, either in the app or online.

There is no cap of any sort on the cashback. You can visit as many restaurants as you want – and earn multiple times at the SAME restaurants if you wish – and there is no limit to the cashback you can receive.

The Amex website says there are ‘500+’ restaurants taking part. If that is correct, it is a big drop from the 1,300+ restaurants that took part in the previous version of this deal.

There are many independent restaurants taking part, so don’t feel that you are being forced into the arms of a big chain.

A full list of participating sites can be found here.

The list of restaurants in the ‘10% off’ offer for holders of other American Express cards is due to be published today – it should be here – and it will be interesting to see if that is a broader list.

  • @bigroomstravel says:

So Heddon Street Kitchen is TRIPLE Dip
    Went on Saturday £136
£100 credit and 20% discount £27 posted next day
BA Shopping Registered Card – email to say I will get 1,360 Avios

So pretty much in ‘profit’ for my visit

It’s OK there – overpriced casual dining, but a good atmosphere. We went Saturday night, but better value on midweek menus. Good for an easygoing meal after a day in London or lunch at a reasonable price from the Amex dining list.
