Today I want to look at which airlines you can earn Avios from.
You know about British Airways, of course. But there are actually 36 airlines which let you earn Avios for some or all of their flights.
With Oman Air becoming an Avios partner earlier this month following its move into the oneworld alliance, I thought it was worth updating this article.
Juneyao Air has been removed from the list since it was last updated because its partnership with Finnair ended on 15th April 2025.
Earning with Fiji Airways is extended to all oneworld Avios partners after it moved to full oneworld membership on 1st April 2025.
Which airlines let you earn Avios?
The list below is alphabetical. In brackets, I have added the programmes which let you earn Avios from that airline:
BA for British Airways Club
IB for Iberia Club
AC for AerClub
VC for Vueling Club
QR for Qatar Airways Privilege Club
FI for Finnair Plus
LO for Loganair
Note that in some cases only certain ticket types will earn. Heavily discounted Aer Lingus tickets do not earn Avios in The British Airways Club, for example. You need to credit such flights to an Aer Lingus AerClub account and then transfer the Avios to your BA account.
Here we go:
Aer Lingus (AC, BA)
Air Nostrum / Iberia Regional (BA, FI, IB)
Airlink (QR)
Alaska Airlines (BA, FI, IB, QR)
American Airlines (AC, BA, FI, IB, QR)
Avianca (IB, selected routes only)
Bangkok Airways (QR)
Binter Canarias (IB)

It is 17 months since I purchased and flew with MAS from SIN to KUL, on the most expensive economy ticket available on line (fully changeable, fully refundable).
I never recieved Avios or Tier points to my BA executive account (silver).
I applied for the missing points via the BA form, and BA replied saying they would ask MAS for them. After a long period with nothing heard, I wrote to MAS customer services, and they replied saying it was up to BA to issue them.
Well, I don’t know exactly how the system is supposed to work, but for sure I didn’t get the reward I was entitled to. I can’t be bothered chasing them both, so I now ‘walk with my feet’ – no more bookings with MAS, and reduced bookings with BA (for several reasons). I have just booked SQ Business to Sydney and return for next January.
Totally agree.
I was unaware that certain classes of flight do not earn Avios. Had booked with BA LHR-KUL and BA then cancelled all flights to KUL. Decided to book with a Oneworld airline to get Avios. Booked to go on the same day and just selected to go Economy. Never gave a thought to the class. Then managed to bid and get upgraded to Business. After flight no sign of Avios. After Chasing BA many times eventually got the reply that the flight was not eligible. I feel I have been conned to fly Oneworld. The class of flight is not shown anywhere on malaysia airlines booking until you get your ticket. However after much searching I have found that you can drill down on the final booking page and it does show the class. BA told me it was a heavily discounted price I paid, however, on checking it looks a pretty standard fare to me.
As an extra we also booked 3 flights on one booking and one ticket with Qantas. Two paid out, however, the third was rejected. Same reason given although absolutly nowhere on the Qantas ticket or itinery does it show a class code.
As an extra comment when BA on their website talk about the % of miles that might get Avios they use the worde Economy(Lowest) surely if there are economy tickets that are below this then lowest is very misleading. Would be interested in someone looking into this as to me Oneworld was all about getting points. If lots of fares do not give points and it is not obvious I think it is verging on misrepresentation.
