Great Qatar deal – Heathrow to Doha on British Airways for £961 return in Business

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A very interesting British Airways fare has appeared this afternoon for travel between London Heathrow and Doha.

For just £961 return, you can fly from London Heathrow to Doha in Business Class.

The fare is available for pretty much the next 11 months.

(EDIT: We published this article on Sunday afternoon and the deal died late on Sunday night.)

Heathrow to Doha on BA for £961 return in Business

The downsides are:

  • you can’t book the Qatar Airways services – only the BA flights
  • you can’t add a regional connection unless you book via BA Holidays – the price will shoot up otherwise
  • you can’t book beyond Doha – although of course you can pay for onward trips
  • there is a 4 night minimum stay

This deal would earn 280 British Airways Executive Club tier points as it stands. Wrap it in a BA Holidays package for 5 nights (either ‘flight + car’ or ‘flight + hotel’) and it would qualify for double tier points – 560 tier points in total.

Most services seem to be on a Boeing 777 so you should get Club Suite.

The fare is obviously non-refundable for this price.

Here is an example for the peak Autumn period:

British Airways Doha deal

It’s not clear if this is a mistake fare or not. Whilst it probably is – because World Traveller Plus is cheaper than Business Class for the return – £961 is not unreasonably low for the Middle East. Lufthansa sells UK to Dubai flights for similar sums during sales.

This means that I doubt your ticket would be cancelled even if it is an error. I imagine that BA struggles to sell its Doha flights, given that there are multiple Qatar Airways services which offer better lounges, seat, food and drink, and it may be quietly happy to pocket a few £961s.

You can keep up with discussion on the deal in this Flyertalk thread, which is also likely to be updated quickly if the deal is pulled.

booked (f1 weekend!) thanks for this – very very helpful

  • Budva says:

Booked. Got domestic legs either side with a car Doha for little bit more as a holiday. Only thing now is where to fly to from Doha and be back a week later

    • Richie says:

Rob’s trip to Oman was interesting.

      • Rob says:

You can also redeem Avios (via Privilege Club) for Oman Air between Muscat and Doha – the only route where this is possible.

    • Tiberius says:

If you booked within the Qatar bonus avios window you can get 10k economy for an economy redemption. Bahrain for 2 passengers in economy cost me 9k. Assume it is a similar price for rest of the GCC – could be some very nice pricing!!

      • Rob says:

It’s not clear this promo applies to tickets which start outside the UK. I have an open query with Qatar HQ about it, hoping to get an answer tomorrow.

  • Harry T says:

I don’t think that’s mega cheap, it’s just fairly good. I’ve seen plenty of AY fares from LHR to DXB for a similar price (granted, business light but doesn’t matter if you have status).

    • Rob says:

Can’t wrap BA Holidays around those though!

      • Amanda says:

Managed to book thanks for the tip!! Only thing is not sure how the double tier points work as I’ve booked flight and hotel combo and showing normal tier points.

        • Rob says:

They post in arrears, 14 days after the flight, and won’t show online.

          • Amanda says:

Cool, makes sense. How long has this promotion been live for? I’ve got some holidays booked as flights and hotel but booked late last year.

          • Rob says:

            3 years.

Note that technically a flight and hotel booked together via the BA flight website and not BA Holidays does not count. In reality, it does seem to post as long as you have five days or hotel or car hire booked.

    • babyg_wc says:

its 1 stop and 4+ extra hours with AY? unless ive missed something?

      • Harry T says:

You haven’t missed something. AY have a better business class product than BA most of the time. I was more contesting whether this was an error fare/mega deal. It’s pretty decent.

  • babyg_wc says:

    fare pulled me thinks

  • Sam says:

    That fare’s now £1800.
    Deal’s gone unfortunately.

    • babyg_wc says:

some dates in 2025 still seem bookable, although youre limited as you can only book 1year in advance

    • Namster says:

Don’t see any avaliablity in March either , has the deal gone ?

  • Doc says:

Some availability still there for early March 2025 but unfortunately for me, I need to travel to Doha end of March and I suspect this will be fully pulled by then. Good offer though- mistake fare or not!!!!
