New British Airways amenity kits rolling out in Business Class

Very quietly, with no fanfare whatsoever, British Airways has decided to roll out a new Club World amenity kit.

The new bag is evolution rather than revolution, and continues to be made in partnership with The White Company and features The White Company toiletries.

The kits are a new rectangular shape and come in white faux leather. If they look familiar, that’s because they’re virtually identical to the BA100 kits that BA offered for a short time as part of its centenary celebrations in 2019.

BA tells us that the new kits are available on “selected” North American routes and will be rolled out more widely over the coming months.

The contents are largely identical but with a few tweaks. The pen has gone, whilst the plastic toothbrush has been replaced by a bamboo one. The earplugs come wrapped in paper rather than plastic. The other items are the same including toiletries, an eye mask and socks.

The pen is not a huge loss. Most countries, including the USA, have now ditched customs declarations or moved digital, so there is little use for a cheap ballpoint pen. The bamboo toothbrush and paper wrapping clearly burnish BA’s sustainability credentials.

    Do we really need amenity kits anyway? More junk and plastic! Do they really serve any purpose? Ear plugs possibly! Get rid of them and there will be less junk around . Voila!

      The bags are reet handy for packing chargers, tea bag’s etc. sad I know but o have a collection going back years from different carriers. Mrs Hampshire Hog once questioned this but a quick call from my legal beagle put her right

      Do we really need food on a plane? We can all make our own sandwiches and take them with us in biodegradable food bags. Voila!

        I have always failed to understand what exactly it is that would make people want to eat on an airplane, of all places. Hard to think of more unappetising places

    No Amenity kits at all on our last flight back from SIN. Don’t think we missed much as I just binned most of the contents from the outbound flight. OH loves the Qatar kits however. When you pay a fortune for a BA flight it’s a shame they can’t go a little more upmarket.

    Probably rarely amongst the HFP readership I am a keen (buying) carbooter. It is interesting to see stallholders with business / first amenity kits among their wares. Sometimes its a useful flag that they will have quality items for sale (people genuinely decluttering).

    What chances it’ll be renamed as Avios Holidays?
    Surely they need to rename BA branding if they have to expand further?

    Also have to mention that they might have introduced commission income for call centre staff to sell hotels via BA holidays.
    Recent calls for booking redemption tickets involved the staff trying to push me to book hotels with them. Usually they are keen to end the call at the earliest.

      You may be right, I had an agent trying to sell me a hotel when all I had done was book a LHR-MAN reward flight which wasn’t doable online due to some IT glitch!

        Similar experience, offered by agent to book a hotel at LGW as made a recent reward flight change that meant an overnight stay. Had assumed it was just because now overnighting but possibly not!

    IAG can’t even run Avios Hotels properly yet – no support team, poor inventory and poor functionality…

    Adam Daniels running BAH. I’ve seen him in action. Mediocre would be flattering.
    Maybe BA ran it too well and customer service was too good.
    Now the loyalty morons who think they’ve invented a ‘new currency’ and present as if they’re geniuses (they’re not) will screw up bah. Sad day.

      The Avios people are OK but are stuck with legacy issues around IAG IT and the fact that each airline has a lot of autonomy over how they integrate. It would be churlish not to be impressed by the Qatar and Finnair deals (albeit Qatar is running rings around BA/IAG), or getting BA to release 14 seats, or daring to launch a Barclaycard despite the contracts Amex signed (and remembering that Amex stopped BA going bust in covid by prepaying for £750m of Avios). Nectar is a mess, I admit.

    Uh-oh.

    When I was confronted with an issue at the location on a BAH booking this was sorted in one phone call to their duty 24hr line.

    I simply can’t see Avios Group offering the same service.

    Wondering if the tier pts promo has pumped up value sold and numbers of passengers in the past year or two, and improved forward bookings, so as to make a high internal transfer value within the IAG Group, do-able in the accounts of BA and Avios.
