REGISTER NOW: Hilton launches its new bonus points promotion for May to August stays

Hilton Honors has just launched its new Spring and Summer promotion which is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

  • you will earn double Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 2nd May and 2nd September
  • that’s it!

There is NO ‘starting with your second stay’ rule.  You get double points from your first stay during the promotional period.

The bonus will trigger on reward stays for ‘in hotel’ spending.

What is your return here?

For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your pre-tax spending here.  20 points per $1 is an 8% rebate and that is before you add in any status bonus. A Diamond would be getting 12% back.

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

  • there is no minimum stay requirement
  • existing bookings still count
  • there is no cap on the bonus points you can earn
  • all Hilton brands (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

Don’t forget the American Express cashback offer

This offer will double up with the current American Express cashback offer, if you are targetted.

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £200 on your American Express card with Hilton by 1st July. Spend can be cumulative.

There are a huge number of UK hotels taking part along with many in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

There is a PDF here showing which hotels are taking part.

Existing bookings will qualify for the £50 Amex cashback as long as they are not already pre-paid. There is no need to rebook anything.

Conclusion

Hilton’s new ‘double base points’ is a decent offer, especially for people doing longer, more expensive stays.

You should make sure you register if you have any Hilton stays coming up in the next four months.

Even without Hilton Honors status, you will be earning 20 points (which I value at 6.6p) per $1.  This is an 8% rebate on your spending.  Anyone with Hilton status will do even better.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 2nd September.

You can sign up for the double points offer here.

Double _base_ points is quite cool for people chasing LTD. I think it’s usually bonus points in these promos innit?

Hilton promotion: double “base points” doesn’t seem right, I’m pretty sure it’s “bonus points”.
