Hilton Honors has launched (another) new 100% bonus for buying Hilton Honors points.

The Hilton ‘buy points’ page is here

For me, the maximum purchase is TRIPLED to 240,000 points. This would double up to 480,000 points with the 100% bonus.

Get a 100% bonus when you buy Hilton Honors hotel points

This would allow you to buy enough points in one go for a decent redemption, probably enough to benefit from the ‘five nights for the points of four’ deal offered to all elite members.

As usual with Hilton, some people may see a lower bonus of 80% or 90%. This seems to be a long running piece of market testing to see how it impacts take-up rates.

The cost of 480,000 points would be £1,980 which is 0.41p per point. The drop in the exchange rate recently has eroded some of the value of these bonuses, with our target valuation for a Hilton Honors points at 0.33p, but as long as you spend them outside the UK it will net off.

Here’s an example of how to save 61% on your holiday

If you have yet to book a summer holiday then this offer may well work for you. Hilton still has points caps at its hotels, even when they are charging exceptionally high peak summer prices for cash stays.

Let’s look at Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia from 18th to 23rd August. The non-refundable cash rate is €893 per night for a standard room, so €4,469 for five nights.

For points, five nights will cost you (if you have status and get 5-4-4) 360,000 Hilton Honors points. You could buy these for £1,485 which is €1,735. You would save 61%.

Do note that Hilton restricts new members from buying points immediately. The rule is:

A new Hilton Honors Member may purchase Points 30 days after enrollment if the account reflects activity including a stay (as defined herein) or earning Hilton Honors Points through a Hilton Hilton Honors Marketing Partner. After 90 days of enrollment, a new Member is eligible to purchase Points regardless of their account activity.

The page to buy points is here if you are interested. The offer runs to 24th September.

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.
