American Express has brought back the generous Amex Dining offer which ran in the spring. It has been expanded from American Express Preferred Rewards Gold cardholders to holders of The Platinum Card.

From now until 31st December 2024, you will receive 20% cashback at the 1,300+ participating UK restaurants when you pay with an American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card or The Platinum Card.

Click here for more details on this promo page of the amexdining.com website. Registration is required.

Amex Dining offer

What cards are taking part?

Preferred Rewards Gold and Platinum cards are included.

American Express Rewards Credit Card holders and Amex Cashback cardholders are not included in the 20% deal but have the regular promotional cashback rate of 10%.

Co-brand cards (BA, Marriott, Nectar, Harrods etc) are not included.

Amex Business cardholders are included at the standard 10% cashback level.

How do you earn the cashback?

You must register for this offer before dining. Assuming there is no targeting, it will show in the ‘Offers’ tab of your American Express Preferred Rewards Gold or Platinum card, either in the app or online.

There is no cap of any sort on the cashback. You can visit as many restaurants as you want – and earn multiple times at the SAME restaurants if you wish – and there is no limit to the cashback you can receive.

It is a fairly mainstream list of restaurants. The best known chains which are taking part are GBK, Carluccio’s, Honest Burgers, Krispy Kreme, Burger & Lobster, Brindisa, Gordon Ramsay, Yo! Sushi, Soho Coffee Co and Gaucho.

The list has changed since the spring (I noticed that Hawksmoor and Sticks’n’Sushi have gone, for example) so double check if re-visiting somewhere you went to during the earlier offer.

There are also a lot of independent restaurants taking part, so don’t feel that you are being forced into the arms of a big chain.

It isn’t even as London-centric as you may think. There are not one but two restaurants in Rotherham taking part, for example (Winter Green at Waverley and Woodman in Dalton) …..

Chain gastro pubs x2 listed near me, which as I am not the core demographic for HfP will do just fine, and will double dip with blue light card too! 😀

    • TGLoyalty says:

A pretty nice one near me too and since it’s 20% off everything that includes drinks …

Not sure what all the complaining is about it’s like all offers some work for you and some don’t.

Do I think Amex could do better 100% I’d say that all the time but this isn’t bad at all.

  • Mike Hunt says:

You can double dip with a decent ongoing Blue Light discount on many of these chain restaurants

  • RJ says:

And stack with the Amex plat dining credit too.?

  • r* says:

Theres no ivy restaurants listed on the 20% list?

  • Musicgrazer says:

FYI. US cardholders do not appear to participate in this offer!

  • Doug says:

Can it be used on supplementary card?
